This will begin Thursday. I predict there will be tons of accidents and families killed by these truckers who do not have to drive by the strict rules our drivers have to go by. What do you think about your wages being driven down by the influx of drivers?

DAR, I'm not a good organizer, but I think there ought to be some protest - I just don't know where to start.

There's no such thing as "cheap labor."
"NAFTA" was and is a COLOSAL MISTAKE!
Even former Senator Phil Graham appologised for ever getting us involved in it!
This is the time to start calling your Senators and Congressmen and Demanding (not "asking") that they get us out of "NAFTA."

We have to get out of NAFTA and the SPP. I kind of understand the court's dilemma, given the terms of NAFTA and the court's duty to enforce treaties as law (unlike Bush, courts tend to take their duties to the law a bit more seriously.) However, I think this may be the time to organize a protest aimed at NAFTA to show that the immigration uprising of voters over the Senate Bill has a broader base (and less simplistic rationale than we are being given credit for). This trucking plan would avoid the mega million dollar security we are putting on our ports to bring containers from China run ports in Mexico on Mexican trucks, and I think it is unacceptable. I would be open to suggestions.

I also note that there is a HUGE base of people against NAFTA, and that we could make new friends and influence people.

me2 it doesn't matter because the Mexican trucks will cost less having cheaper labor, lower benefits and lesser standards. More American jobs gone, not just in the trucks but in the ports they pick up from.

As long as they are properly licensed to American standards, certified like USA drivers are required as to the type of cargo they haul, and the truck they drive can pass the rigid inspections that the USA truckers are required, then I am for it.

It is already dangerous enough on our highways with the huge number of highly regulated US truckers, I sure as hell don't want to contend with Pedro driving some 20 year old
POS on I-15.

It is suppose to be reciprocal with Americans trucks having assess to Mexican highways, it should be interesting to see how many Americans trucks will actually have access to the interior of Mexico

This is SO dumb. For decades there have been millions of foreign nationals driving on US roads. They are called TOURISTS.

Is a 70 year old Japanese woman (used to driving on the left, driving a sub-compact on tiny streets), driving a 40-foot RV at 80 mph on the freeway (with no prior training or experience) any less dangerous than a Mexican trucker, who has been driving his own semi for the last 20 years ?

We have 20-30 million tourists per year moving around the USA. They don't have to meet ANY qualifications before renting vehicles, except to have some sort of license.

I love the spin and the fear mongering, this is truly your game, you mention the 9th but you dont mention the Bush administration fast tracking the pilot program...this is truly bipartisanship, what was the last time the "liberal judges" upheld anything Bush ever did?

btw, those trucks been coming and going for a long time, now they are unmonitored...
