ok im about 20-30 lbs overweight

(13. 180lbs 5'7")

im not eating school lunches anymore im going to take
a bottle of water/green tea, a granola bar/ham sandwhich with one slice of bread somedays, and some grapes/other fruit for lunch.

for breakfast i am going to drink a homade smoothie. (consists of frozen friut and lowfat yogert)

and for supper i will probably just eat whatever my parents eat (usually a meat. which i only take a little of, a vegetable(usually corn, peas, eggplant, squash, etc..) and sometimes potatoes.and then for desert usually some kind of fruit.

does this diet sound good to you?

for exercise i usually run with my neighbor (close to my age) we go about a mile.

i need a better exercise plan though. i will still do that but i need to do more on my own. any ideas?

please and thank you.

to lose weight you have to eat 5-6 small meals a day - that way your body gets calories when it needs them and doesnt have any extra left to store in fat reserves plus - doesnt hold on to fat reserves because it knows its gona get all energy it needs, also keeps your blood sugar more stable and you feel energized all day long.
have some complex carbs for breakfast like old fashioned oatmeal with fruit/berries/nuts/dried fruit/honey.
make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day
when it comes to exercising - you have to do cardio which is the only fat burning exercise 4-6 times a week for average of 45min -1mile of running is not gona do it.

Sounds like a reasonable plan but you might want to check www.sparkpeople.com

They have nice tools for calorie intake, ideas about food and exercise, experts that answer questions and a great peer support community on the message boards. And amazingly, it's free.
