I've been jogging in shorts n a t shirt for a while now and I wear them no matter what the weather. Recently I had been advised by some friends to wear a tracksuit whilst jogging...what are the benefits and disadvantages of different attire when jogging?

If it is cold the track suit will keep you warmer--this is OK if you don't stop in which case you may get too cold.

If it is hot you will sweat more and lose weight. This is good if you are trying to make a weight like for boxing or wrestling, but it is only water weight and it won't help you. Your body needs water to operate efficiently.

When you are running you will feel about 40 degrees warmer than the air temperature. If it is cold wear the suit.
In warm or even cool weather wear shorts and t shirt.

There is no advantage to wearing hot or warm clothes.
There is a danger to over heating is you wear warm clothes and don't need to.

Your friends probably think that losing water weight is good, but it is not. Be comfortable and stay as cool as possible.

I say wear whatever feels comfortable to you. I myself like to wear a sleeveless shirt, track shorts and under armour spandex underneath my track shorts.
