Basic Requirements to become a freemason:

* according to the United Grand Lodge of England: The essential qualifications for admission is that you have a belief in a Supreme Being. It is usual for candidates to be "mature men of 21 years and over", but in some circumstances candidates between the ages of 18 and 21 can be admitted; it is also understood that you have to be male.

* Freemasonry is NOT a religion, it is a social fraternity that teaches moral lessons through symbol, ritual and allegory; you can read about the Earth being populated by aliens that founded Atlantis on Google to, its not necessary the most reliable source of information.

* You will receive instruction on the "rules" once you become a Freemason, however, being a moral, social fraternity they deal with brotherhood, service to humankind, morality.

* There are no secrets in Freemasonry, you can read all of it online (as well as all the anti-mason rhetoris too). check out :www.masonicinfo.com (run by a Freemason) and www.freemasonrywatch.org (very anti-masonic) for some more info)

* yes, the anti-masonic folks have done a great job getting their sites at the top of all the search engines

* do a google search on "grand lodge of [your area]" and you should be able to find one for your area --- go to http://www.grandlodge-england.org/ and click on the information for freemasons link and they have a listing of all the lodges in the world...

* also, the Shriners are an appendant body of Freemasonry, you need to join a Blue Lodge and once you reach the 3rd degree, which despite what any anti-mason (informed or uninformed), is THE HIGHEST degree in Freemasonry. once you reach the 3rd degree, at least in the USA you can become a Shriner, in some places you may need to go through the Scottish (or York) rite which are also appendant bodies of Freemasonry and despite having degrees up to 33 (33 is an honorary degree you are awarded after years of exceptional service) are NOT higher than the 3rd degree of the Blue (a.k.a. craft, symbolic) Lodge

to some other points made:

* when someone uses "shadowy figure" it pretty much tells you where they are coming from and how reliable their opinions are likely to be; the "shadowy figure" was not the devil, in fact there was no "shadowy figure" and you cannot be a Freemason if you worship the devil. what is an 'electro-mason'? your personal experiences with freemasons should help guide you to the truth of who and what they are
* you only need to be 21, and in some jurisdictions, or if you are the son of a mason, 18 will do.
* every american president has NOT been a mason, here is a listing for you: http://bessel.org/presfmy.htm
* they are not the opposite, or anti-, christ...
* Neither Freemasonry nor the Shriners are a religion
* the oaths/obligations are symbolic and not literal, the only punishment you'd receive is being demitted (i.e. kicked out); but even that is highly unlikely, they should be taken seriously, but symbolically. to understand this, you will need to become a freemason (you can also look into some books by Carl Claudy)...
* freemasons do not embrace stalin, not sure where this came from...
* Christ's message was about peace and love and so is freemasonry; --- this from someone who calls himself/herself "spiritual GUNslinger"
* the link that Rux gives is to someone who claims to know all the political truths we all somehow miss, but there's nothing there about Freemasonry....
* freemasons are a very good group, performing over $1 billion of charity work in the USA each year, including free hospitals, as you know
* again, they do NOT worship satan; the ARE NOT and NEVERY HAVE been associated with the Illuminati; the Illiminati have not existed for almost 200 years
* the red cross is not associated with Freemasonry, but its not a bad organization either
* there are no lower level / higher level conspiracies where you learn the truth about freemasonry when you reach the "higher levels" don't believe this garbage
* there are no secrets in freemasonry
* columbus did not have the Templar logo on his sails...
* the bit about the 12 tribes of Israel, Lucifer and the Templars can go in with the same group that talks about aliens settling the Earth at Atlantis
* skull and bones are not associated with the freemasons, never have been
* the shriners have lots of hospitals all over the country, not just one burn hospital
* the bit about Leo is true, but he did this becase he was in France at the time and would have been killed by the French King had he not done so
* the freemasons are not demonic/satanic/secretive. again, don't listen to this uninformed mumbo jumbo
*

Freemasonry is a fraternity. The members do good works, charity, and strive to become better men. NOTES: - Anyone who isn't a Freemason and attempts to tell you what "goes on in a Lodge" or what Freemasonry "is all about" is lying to you. If you want to know about Freemasonry, you ask a Freemason. Duh. - The Arrivals is a bunch of fictional nonsense spewed by people who clearly don't know their topic.

Basically the only requirement is the belief in a higher power.

There is a lot of hype out there regarding the freemasons, most of which is highly exaggerated, but there is no doubt that Freemasons had a large influence on the founding fathers of the US.

Wikipedia.org has a lot of information and then for the Shriners specifically, try this link:

No, Freemasonry is not a religion. But you must believe in a Supreme Being to be a Freemason.

The rules are secretive but not for any reason of malice.

Freemasonry is about brotherhood, friendship, and charity.

I am a Mason.

umm, Freemasons are not a good group. They worship Lucifer. Read up on the Illuminati and realize those "groups" you think are good, are actually wolves in sheep's clothing, just as we are warned.

Including Shriner's, Red Cross, Freemasons, Knights Templar, Rosicrucian's, etc, etc.

The lower levels they tell you its all good, for G_D, but its not, its been proven over n over that the lower ranks don't know the truth. Dig deep, for they are the most deceptive bunch around.

Plus did not Jesus say... " there is no truth in secret? that I am not in any secret place ". So why then would you join a secret group to worship G_D in private and secret?

C.Columbus who sailed to America was actually the front of the Knights Templar. For they were being chased down to be removed from earth. They vanished in 1490. In 1492 Columbus sails to the new world with the Knights Templar logo on his sails.

Then this group creates genocide against the Native Indians. Why? Cause they are the Knights Templar, they job is to remove the 12 tribes from the earth per orders of Lucifer.

The Native Indians are the Tribe of Dan. Those Knights Templar later turned into Freemasons, Masons, Skull n Bones, etc.

PS - if you think Shriners does so much good work, research the amount of money they actually bring in per year. Then realize less than 8% goes to the burn hospitals. Where does the other 92% go? The secret organization and all they are actually doing behind the scenes.

Freemasonry IS NOT a religion.
It is strictly a fraternal organization.
When you reach 21 ask a Mason how to become one.

At the end of the 19th century, Pope Leo XIII condemned Freemasonry and prohibited any Roman Catholic from joining the Masons, and issued an anathema to those who do. While excommunication requires a formal act from a bishop, cardinal or pope, an anathema is automatic excommunication. Several other Popes have done the same. [see Humanum Genus, Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII on Freemasonry, April 20, 1884]

This should leave no misunderstanding about how the Church feels about Freemasonry, and how serious it is.

Freemasonry is a demonic, Satanic secret sect (Why do you think they keep it secret?). There are two rites, the York Rite and the Scottish Rite with 33 degrees earned by a Mason as he proceeds up the Satanic ladder. It is indeed a form of Satanic worship employing pentagrams, black masses, etc. The initiation ceremony for one of the upper levels requires the initiate to stomp his feet on a mock tiara ---- the Pope’s hat. The lower levels of Masonry are designed as social clubs, thereby luring new initiates. Masonry gets progressively more perverse as one proceeds toward the 33rd degree. The goals of Masonry are two fold:

-- destruction of the Roman Catholic Church, and

-- control of the world.

Freemasonry is comprised of several subgroups such as the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR), the Trilateral Commission, the Illuminati, the Bilderbergers, the Club of Rome, the World Constitution and Parliament Association, the Lucis Trust (formerly known as the Lucifer Trust), etc. Over the centuries, Freemasonry has crept into and obtained control of banking and international finance, THE MEDIA, the United Nations, large international companies, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, etc. They are world leaders, government officials, corporate executives journalists, entertainers, and clergy.

Why would the Vatican condemn a whole group of people with anatema if their intent was not evil?

The following is a Protestant website which lists Symbols of the Occult. Many masonic symbols are listed there....and for good reason. Certain masonic symbols include (without limitation): the all-seeing eye, the pyramid, the double headed eagle, the phoenix, the pentagram, the masonic compass, the sphinx. the philosphers stone, the sun face, theosphy, the obelisk, and more.

If you value your soul.....you will not allow yourself to be sucked into the Masonic deception.

I've always wanted to help out those that help others, but I have to remember, while we agree to fight the same battle, doesn't mean we agree on everything. (Good example, fighting nazis in WW-2, meant embracing Stalin).

what can I tell you about Masons?

You'll find the oath for secrecy is troubling.

By that, I mean, look at the horrible punishment they swear to inflict on those who break the vow of secrecy. Disembowelment, plucking out the eye, and more.

Can I stand before God and make that vow and still say Christ's life was about peace and love?

And then the response is "don't take the vow so literally and so seriously." Which is just another problem with a new face. What I mean...how can I make a vow to God that I know I'm not going to keep?

And this is just the first step. I've found the farther one goes, the more questionable as to what the relationship is with God.
