A Mormon in the neighborhood saw me replacing a shingle roof and doing other home repairs. Then he said he didn't think I was a "real woman."
His wife never does any work outside. She doesn't even help him shovel when there is a heavy snowfall.
Are Mormon women too intimidated to do certain kinds of work for fear of being maligned?

Some members still believe that the woman's job is to stay in doors cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children. Then there are the members who realize that sometimes it takes both the man and the woman doing things outside to make the home run. There are many members that I know where the wife works outside the home to help make ends meat. I am a female member of the Church my whole life. When I got married at first I was able to stay home until my son was born 10 months after we got married. I was going back to school while pregnant with him. Started working when he was 6 months old because we need money in order to survive. Hope this helps you out.

No, we live in a Mormon neighborhood, and the women do all kinds of work.

If anything, Mormon women are harder workers than women in other denominations. Many of them come from a pioneer ancestor background or whatever.

I doubt that... all the mormon women I know (which is most of Utah) rock climb, ATV, go camping, and completely manage their home while their menfolk are off on missions, etc. Those gals are no strangers to hard work!

He was just a weirdo...

I have no Idea, but you are a real woman even if you do the outside work, I don't think that any of Gods laws prohibit it.

I do think that the women work outside and help with "manly" chores, but I don't think Mormon religion respects their women at all. Not for anything. One of my friends who is a Mormon, is constantly berated by her husband. Recently her husband began an affair with another women in their church. When she found out about it...he blamed her. It figures.

That's his opinion, do you have a husband?
No it's not common, he should mind his own business
unless he helped you.

So, by default of not being a "real" woman, did he think you were a man with breasts and a vagina? Or some demon spawn? Ask him for me, would you please?
