I have a 4 month old Lab, Mastiff mix and we went to the beach yesterday. Afterwards I sprayed him down with the hose and he still smells like sea water. I want to give him a bath, however I already gave him one only two weeks ago and I dont want to dry out his coat. If I give him a bath right now will it be okay just this once?

Yes it will be OK to give your pup a bath one more time. I asked my old lady she is a groomer, she said that it will be OK to give the puppy a bath, but after that, try to Waite a while before you give another bath. Some people bring in dogs 3 times a month or every two months. When hunting is going on, she gets a lot of dogs that has to be combed out & they get baths too, from the lakes they smell like fish & they have Cockabirs in the hair.

Actually, it would be best to bathe him to remove the salt residue from his skin. After his bath and when he is all dry, brush him vigorously and that helps distribute the natural oils throughout the coat keeping his skin and coat healthy. Brushing is one of the most beneficial activities you can do for a dogs' coat.

I wash my dogs every week without fail, no coat problems, and one of my dogs -the pit bull- gets a shower at least twice a week because he too goes to the beach, my other dogs do not...so scrub away! just rinse well and he will be fine. I also use a little conditioner, no matter on the kind, so they feel soft.

I would go a head and bathe him. It shouldn't be a problem since he is dirty from the water and it's been a while since you've given him a bath.

A bath is always good. Go ahead and give him a bath, he will be okay.

bath every two weeks is fine.. use a premium shampoo made for dogs and RINSE WELL... that is the most important... watch your mixed breed well,, because HIP DYSPLASIA is very prevalant in BOTH breeds so you are dealing with a double whammy in that department

it will be fine. you can give them baths whenever they stink or have crap on them but dont just leasurily give them baths just to do it.
