Magic 8-Ball: close, but they actually used octal instead of decimal.

Let's just say dinosaurs and humans didn't live at the same time.

Well, the first dinosaurs evolved about 230 million years ago, and they went extinct 65 million years ago. Giving them a range of 165 million years.

The first hominids evolved about 6 to 8 million years ago, and the first anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) is only about 100,000 years old.

But saying that the dinosaurs 'reigned' during the period they were around is somewhat vertebrocentric. Certainly they were the largest critters around, but much like now, it was really the insects that were the most numerous, and the most vital to the ongoing health of the various ecosystems. Then, as now, it would be more proper to say that the insects reigned.

Also, comparing one species, one subspecies even, with the entire lineage of dinosaurs isn't entirely fair either. There were hundreds, if not thousands of species of dinosaur, none of which actually existed for that entire 165 million years.

It would be more fair to compare the entire mammal lineage to that of the dinosaurs. The first mammals appeared about 210 million years ago, and are of course still alive today. This gives them an overall range of 210 million years, which beats the dinosaur's record, and the mammals have been the largest, 'dominant' group for about 65 million years. It's hard to say how long that will last, but it's pretty respectable for critters that started out as little shrew-like bug eaters.

There is no evidence of dinosaur spirituality, which obviously means they were pagans. Or possibly buddhists.

Dinosaurs lived for 160 million years, or thereabouts. Humans have been around for about 100 000 years. But it should be noted that humans are a specific species, whereas dinosaurs are a superfamily, so it's not a fair comparison. A better comparison would be between dinosaurs and apes (the superfamily hominoidea) which have lived for about 25 million years.

Yes, the Dinosaurs lived for at least 165 million years, which was over 80 times longer than our genus has existed, and over 800 times longer than our own species.

A long, long time.
Not long but 'very' much longer than 6000 years.
The natives of Oz have a history going back, some say, 60,000 years.

I think 63 million years fits somewhere in the answer but can't quite remember where - maybe it's cos I don't care.

If the entire history of life on earth was condensed to 24hrs, mankind would have arived at less than a second to midnight.

24-hour clock
4.56 billion years = 24 hours
1 million years = 18.9 seconds

Life on Earth 4:10 AM
Land dwelling animals 21:46 PM
JURASSIC 22:57 PM
CRETACEOUS Dino's die out 23:14 PM
Common ape-human ancestor 23:57 PM
Homo s. sapiens 23:59:59,3 PM

Dinos were around approx. 145 million to 203 million years ago during the Jurassic period. The first hominids appeared abt 7 million years ago.

I'm sure the T-Rex was very spiritual before he scavenged carcasses.

If one imagines time as something concrete... the dinosaurs reign could be measured as a bucket full of water, and humans time here would equal one drop of water being added to the bucket...

As far as dino-spirituality... I don't believe we have found any dino-altars (lol), but elephants collect, deposit and visit the bones of their dead... I s'pose that could qualify in some way in terms of attachment and ritual...

dinosaurs died out about 63 million years ago - people that we would recognize have been around for about 400,000 years. Humanoids about 3 million
