In general, no, weight lifting at age 13 will not make you shorter.
In theory, however, it is possible. At age thirteen most males still have open epiphyses or growth plates at the ends of long bones. The growth plates are where new bone is formed that adds length. It is also the weakest part of the bone. It is well documented that if a teen with open growth plates lifts an object that is too heavy, or does excessive repeats with heavy weights, the epiphyses can slip and separate. If the injury is severe, growth is affected. This usually happens only to one growth plate, so only the length of that bone would be affected.
Moderate weights and a reasonable number of repetitions are sufficient to keep muscles in tone, so growing teens should not attempt maximum lifting and fatiguing repetitions.

Hey.
Weight lifting is only good and beneficial IF you chose a weight which you can lift around 20 times (reps) per set. Unfortunately if you are worried about a growth halt this is the way you have to go to be sure. This won't result in an as large muscle increase as doing 5-7 reps in each set but it will secure you from a growth halt (as an example: bones which haven't grown in to place yet). You'll be glad later in life that you did the rÃght thing!
