and in Spanish is "y", rhymes with see in English. If it comes between a word that ends with the Spanish "I" sound ( also rhymes with see) and another that starts with "I"then we use "e" which sort of sounds like "eh".

Its "y" pronouned like the English letter "e". What might seem a bit confusing though is that if the word following begins with an "ee" sound like Italiano pronounced "ee-tah-lee-ah-no" the the "y" would become an "e" which in Spanish is pronounced "eh".

Ex. I want to go to Portugal and Spain
"Quiero ir a portugal y españa"
I want to go to Portugal and Italy
"Quiero ir a portugal e italia"
