In the states these are called Shiloh shepherds, not many around and very few come into rescue. but try a search on petfinder.

Do a search for local German Shepherd rescues in your area. Fill out an application, even if they don't have any long haired GSDs. Most rescues are very happy to work with potential adopters to find the right dog for them. The rescue may not have what you are looking for right now, but if you are willing to be patient the right dog will come along.
You could also try visiting www.petfinder.com and type in German Shepherd Dog and your zip code into the search, there are 7650 GSD and GSD mixes listed on petfinder. Long haired GSDs are not rare and find themselves in need of a new home just as frequently as short haired GSDs.

You can try to do a search for GSD rescue groups. I would think that would be the best place to start. Other then that, I would think about leaving my number with the shelters in your area to see if a dog that is along the lines of what you want comes in. Just keep up with the look. Eventually you'll find the dog that's right for you.

First thing to do is Google, German shepherd, long hair, Your state. See what pops up. Then look in yellow pages and call and ask. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Sometimes our animals become our kids and adults best friends. They never talk back. Good luck.

search online find a breeder of these dogs and call them, remember to ask a lot of questions and dont just go with the first breeder you find, try and find one that is very interested in getting to know you and see what you are all about because they are actually screening you to make sure you are good enough to own one of there dogs

why don't you just rescue the one from the shelter? Sounds like it could use a home.
