a spit roast is when you cook a whole side of lamb or a whole pig or a really big piece of meat and its cooked very slowly usually on a spit which is a long pole which pierces the meat and then turns it slowly over a period of many hours over a flame or bbq coals.
Its a great way to cook because you baste the meat as you go and the flavour and moisture stay in the meat

I hope you really are making a culinary enquiry! For the non-culinary answer, you'll have to mail me.

Anyway, a spit-roast (usually chicken or pork) is where the whole animal (without the grizzly inside bits) is put on a stick & turned over an open fire so that all the meat cooks evenly - a bitl like a bbq, I suppose.

when you have a roast, (think a small ham except made of beef and not processed) impaled on a stick, cooked slowly over a heat source, while rotating. then you cut it and serve it like a ham or meatloaf. they're really good
