And if so - do you believe that Love is powerful?

My Spiritual beliefs are quite simple. I believe that God is Love. The Power of Love. We can tap into It and use It to make our lives better. If God is the way I see It - would it be safe to say that you believe in God? Why? Why not?

Just for the record - I don't believe in sin or hell. I'm not sure about an afterlife.

Thanks for your input.

Namaste!

I believe in the emotion of love but I do not believe it attached to any deity or supernatural force. It is one we human beings create on our own as a combination of biology and environment.

You are welcome to your view but I do not ascribe to it so please do not assume just because I believe in the human generated emotion that I believe in your deity because I do not. There is not one shred of empirical proof for the existence of ~any~ of the thousands of named deities worldwide.

Of course i believe in love! I believe in love and i believe in peace. I'm a big believer of humanity and justice. And yes, love is powerful, it's one of the most wonderful things that makes life worth living. But can't agree with you on the God thing, but it'd sure be nice to have a God who'd just be love!

Hon, if that's what you narrow God down to, then you don't believe in GOD either. You believe in a god. Or an idol. Define it as you wish; it's not the living God.

I think your brain tells you that god loves you in the same way you feel loved by a parent or sibling. It is psychological and dates back from when we were more of a tribe or 'pack' that needed to look out for each other.
In non-relatives though, I think it is a chemical reaction to make us want to reproduce. Pheremones are proven to be more irresistable in a partner with more different genes than you.

Love has two sides: the purely biological/electrochemical side, and the experiential side. I understand the biological mechanism and the reasons for it, but I still acknowledge the power of the experience. Now where does your god fit in this?

I just believe in love. And I agree that it's powerful.

I believe in Love.

You can of course define God as being equal to Love.

But Christianity doesn't define it that way -- and Christianity has the worldly power, which it abuses.

If god is love then it's a twisted and sick kind of love. Basically god says "I love you and if you don't love me back, I'll send you to hell where you'll be tortured without stop for eternity".
Nice.
That kind of love we can do without.

All is god - love, hate and everything you can see and cannot. You can have situations where love is not there but of course, the divine always is so no, love is not god. It's a state of being.
