I see by a lot of comments above that people are down on religion. And rightly so. Yes, religion as a whole has brought on MUCH sorrow. But those who are true worshipers of the true God of the Bible, do see that this world would be a lot worse without Him. Because of His original purpose for the earth and mankind on it, we have survived to this day. His name is involved, and because religion is bringing reproach on it they will have to answer to Him.
For your reference, here are the scriptures to back up all that was said.
Psalms 83:18 (esp. in King James Bible)
Isaiah 2:2-4
Isaiah 45:18
Isaiah 28:17,18
Matthew 24:3-14
Matthew 25:31-46
1st Corinthians 6:9,10
1st Corinthians 23-28
Galatians 5:19-21
2nd Thessalonians 1:6-9
Revelation 4:11
Revelation chapters 17 and 18 - The fate of Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion

that is my dream for humanity. One day without the believe in god, maybe a little more than one day will be needed but what i think will happen is that people will realize that they are not bad deep down, that they are not prone to harming others, that they have more than enough (even better) personal principles, that they are powerful, that they do not need someone else's answered prayers to do well, that they are responsible for the good and bad things that happen intheir lives, that they can control other people's actions by their reactions to them, that they do not need an over seer to plot revenge on their enemies because there are no enemies, that their fellow humas are great individuals worth knowing and loving, that we are all in this together, not one against the other (one team pairing up with one god or religion and the other team pairing off with another god or no god at all. That is my one greatest wish for humanity

The world without a belief in God would be a world full of non-believers. Then just imagine what kind of a world this is if this world is full of non-believers. better or worse?
so it is better to believe that there is God, then at the end we realized He really does not Exist than believing that there is no God then at the end we found out that He truly does exist.

What are these fantastic things that the belief in God has given mankind?
Without theism, I think mankind would be more rational and more scientifically and socially advanced. I think theism and religion has outlived its usefulness and now only holds mankind back from realizing its full potential.

Ask Noah. He had to build a massive ship to escape flood waters that were going to destroy a world that didnt know or want God.
There are many wonders indeed as a result of Gods interaction with humanity not to mention the bare essentials of humanity. Even atheist philosophers fear what the world would be like without religion. Could you imagine biollions of people all without the fear of eternal punishment? You wouldnt be able to send your kids to school because there would be regular school shootings. You wouldnt even be able to walk outside your home.

There are also a lot of destructive things that belief in "God" has given to mankind. Think about terrorism.

Wow. Their seems to be a lot of angry atheists. Overall, the belief in God in the U.S.has definitely helped more than it hurt and kept society fairly stable. Scary what the leaders of tomorrow think. They seem to think you have to believe literally everything preached or none at all . How about a belief in a higher power to help guide, work through issues, make good decisions, keep a good moral compass, etc.? It's easier than all by yourself.

Well - it depends on WHAT we think God is.
Some folks believe that their God is the only God - and will kill others to prove their point. In that case - the belief in "God" has given mankind war.
God is LOVE.
Namaste!!

The world would remain the same. God has set up everything already. Not believing in Him won't make him less of a God. Good and evil exists to maintain the balance.

How do you know that the god you worship gave it to us? Maybe somebody else's god did.
I don't believe in anybody's gods, and I'm in a pretty nice state, thank you very much. I worked hard for it, and "the lord giveth, the lord taketh away" doesn't wash with me or with most other intelligent, rational people.
