i have the same problem with my cat and a shelf that she managed to rip out of the wall somehow. the best way to stop cats from doing things they shouldnt be doing is to get a squrity bottle like the ones you spray flowers with, squrit your cat each time it jumps up, (obviously not when they are near the electrics, could be a hair raising lesson but it wont do it again) they dont like water, you are not hurting them and it should teach it not to jump on things its not allowed to.
hope this is of some help?

Get yourself a roll of 2 inch wide, clear plastic packaging tape (not duct tape) and cut off 12" long strips. Lay them sticky side up on the tv stand and let him jump up. When he triggers the 'tape monster' just let him wear it for 15 minutes before going to help get it off of him. Reset the tape monster meanwhile with new tape.

Usually it only takes twice to let a cat learn that something sticky is up there that he can't get off himself if it gets on, and he won't connect it to you. We used this to keep our cats off the top of the tv, the computer monitor, the aquarium and the 6' book case. Works really good!

Dont' use water, you can short out your tv if the water hits the wrong stuff.

Don't spray her with water, that's mean (and leaves spots on your TV too).
Provide another high spot just for her and after that, each time she jumps on the TV stand, say loud and firmly "NO", maybe even pick her up and carry her to her own spot. That's sufficient. Cats are smart, they know what you want.

Is the tv stand one of the tallest objects in that room? Cats like climbing and sitting on high places. It keeps them feeling safe from attack and means they can watch everything going on around them. Is there something else in the room like a book case or shelf that he could sit on instead.

maybe drape something over it so your cat doesn't leave their foot prints on it. or anytime you see him/her get up on it spray him/her with water, though that's only effective when you see it happening.
