Bail is guaranteed by the US constitution.

And bad people don't always disappear. The majority of bond skips are for minor felonies or misdemeanor offenses.

Serious offenses have very high bail bonds ... or held with out bond.

Can you add a link or explain some people you are referring to that are offenders who have skipped out so I can comment on those situations.

Bail is necessary so that the Government can't just lock people up and throw away the key. The purpose of bail is to ensure a person returns to their court appearances. The more likely a person would want to flee, the higher the bail. That is is the sole purpose of bail. This logic gets lost in reality and judges often abuse their discretion and are overly affected by the nature of the crime charged. They may take into account the seriousness of the charge, the strength of the Peoples case, the person's community ties and criminal record. Remand (at least in new york) is illegal for misdemeanors and is used almost exclusively in murder cases.

Bail has a place in the system, but it should be for citizens only

What if you are not guilty? With no bail system, you lose your job, home and everything you have worked for, while you sit in jail and wait for your trial. Flip side here, NO BAIL FOR ANYONE IN OUR COUNTRY ILLEGALLY. Don't like it, don't come here.

America doesn't post bail...families do.
Good, bad or indifferent, it's a Right.
