Is there a better way than reason to acquire knowledge and truth?
If your answer to the above question is "faith," then why are there so many contradictory faiths in the world?

skubity, I think you're the one who needs a course in comparative religious studies. They're NOT the same! (Voice of former Luthern/Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist/Deist).

Jesus M, your canned answer didn't address the second half of my question. "Thumbs down."

Same goes for you, mark101112 - you gave a "canned response" that didn't address my question. THINK about what I'm asking and answer appropriately instead babbling Bible verses and expecting that to convince a skeptic.

Faith did not discover penicillin, the incandescent light bulb, radio transmission, the internal combustion engine, integrated circuits, quantum theory, trigonometry.... reason did. Faith is content to let "god" explain away all mysteries and unknowns in the world, reason drives us to discover and grow. If it were not for human reason and the drive to further our knowledge, we'd still be living in caves and mud huts, performing burnt offerings to the sky god.

Not unless you think that the way to arrive at "truth" is by simply blindly believing what others have told you, without a single shred of proof....... but what they, themselves had indoctrinated into them by those who were similarly indoctrinated. Plenty of people talk about "truth" with little or no understanding of what the word even means.

To acquire knowledge, read the truth about God in the Holy Bible and understand it very well.

I know this isn't the answer you want, but faith is the answer. All those religions might seem contradictory from the outside, but I guarantee you if you took enough time to carefully study each religion you'd realize they're all the same. They just seem different from the outside.

Truth is subjective, knowledge is acquired by study and practice.

Reason, logic, and experience have helped me to acquire knowledge and truth.
My answer was not faith. But sometimes experience will lead to faith - and faith will lead to truth.
Namaste!

There is ONLY ONE TRUTH....! IT IS THE ... WORD OF GOD! [JEHOVAH]
Each Religion has been FORMULATED..... to ... Bend... and ... Pervert... that ONE TRUTH..... to Validate and to Show... that THEY ARE ABOVE.... ALL ... OTHERS!
YES..... all World Religions... MISS... This....!
(Philippians 2:9-10-11) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
(Phi 2:10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
(Phi 2:11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The... CHOICE.... is... Yours.... NOW...!
Thanks, RR

go with whatever method works best for you. there is no universal "knowledge and truth" ...its only what applies to each individual throughout the course of their lives.
if reason is your choice of acquiring these things, then by all means, go for it.
if its something other than that...no problem.
