yes it can! Like me, I have tmj, I haven't chewed gum in so long and last night I did and I had full tmj spasms.

Not that i am aware. If eaten in extreme excess, the sugar free version may have a laxative effect. Other than that, I really don't know.

side effects of what? it you chew alot yor jaws might get sore . thats all.
