If you are lonely it can lead to depression and potentially lead to other problems like feeling suicidal. Being alone isn't the problem. It is how you see being alone. Human beings are social animals and we need contact with others. On the whole, we do so much better when we are connected to other people who care about us.

I would rephrase this question as to what are the consequences of being lonely?
One could easily get depressed unless they are a loner.
Vacations from work is a consequence of being alone as it's no fun going places alone..At work it's no fun working a eight hour day five days or more being alone.

Life in general would be so much more fulfilling with a significant other. On line singles sites are a waste- I tried one and it is a waste of time and money.

Basically there are probably alot of people out there who are alone -going ouy to a store just for the people contact can help. Voluntering can help take the edge off of being alone.
Getting a cat or dog can help.

Probably the biggest consequence would be geting kinda bummrd out. You have to look for ways to ge out and have people contact.Even if yu just get out or go for drive can
lift ones sprit.

I am in the same boat so I can understand loneliness.

Sadness, a sense of worthlessness, suicidal, not looking after yourself and always depressed, this sometimes leads to harming yourself. I hope you aren't describing yourself cause if you are then you need someone to talk to, someone that you can trust and confide in. Don't bottle up your feelings otherwise it could get worse. I wish nobody ever felt loneliness cause it's the most horrible feeling in the world! It rips your guts out! and it's so hard to overcome it when there is nobody there to talk to you. I've been in that situation many times in my life and believe me it's the most horrible feeling in the world! Take care and good luck!

Too many to say.

But for any living being on earth there can only be two dangers; First and foremost is fear of death and second is what causes it; meaning may be a disease or sickness or illness of any kind to body -mind organism.

Fear of death can arise more so when you are lonely but that is false because it should ideally arise only when you are in group. But it happens so that we fear death and it just graples us when we are alone. May be suicidal thoughts and such might arise. Otherwise, loneliness is worth enjoying for those who are free and feel free.

Hopelessness, fear of everything- crowds, outside.
* Perhaps most astonishing, in a survey he conducted, doctors themselves confided that they provide better or more complete medical care to patients who have supportive families and are not socially isolated.
* Living alone increases the risk of suicide for young and old alike.
* Lonely individuals report higher levels of perceived stress even when exposed to the same stressors as non-lonely people, and even when they are relaxing.
* The social interaction lonely people do have are not as positive as those of other people, hence the relationships they have do not buffer them from stress as relationships normally do.
* Loneliness raises levels of circulating stress hormones and levels of blood pressure. It undermines regulation of the circulatory system so that the heart muscle works harder and the blood vessels are subject to damage by blood flow turbulence.
* Loneliness destroys the quality and efficiency of sleep, so that it is less restorative, both physically and psychologically. They wake up more at night and spend less time in bed actually sleeping than do the nonlonely.

Technically there is nothing wrong with being alone..... people are alone all the time - it's what you do with your alone time which could be hazzardous.

People in solitary confinment have to sit there are think about what they did wrong.

If you use your time productively then there are no dangers.

You are the only which chooses the dangers of being alone.
