It does not make sense for all years its been Sunday, I mean Saturday Evening is considered the "Vigil" mass and Sunday is considered the "liturgy" And people are saying Sunday is the beginning of the week, which i think is false - there is no eight day which everyone is saying. The church is always saying its Sunday, same with catechists. Priests even say it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

It's Saturday (actually from 6:00 Friday to 6:00 Saturday) or sunset.

The Church changed the day of worship to Sunday to coincide with pagan rituals at the time.

When you go to Israel and stay in a hotel, the floor buttons are already preset so you do not have to "work" to press any buttons.

That is fine when you are on the 3rd floor going up from the lobby, but if you are on the top floor of a hotel, it can mean a long trip.

Sabbath is really Saturday... As the Jews would beleive it... No work should be done on the Sabbath day (which is Saturday) because it is against the commandments.

According to wikipedia.org "The Sabbath (or Sabbat) is a weekly day of rest and/or worship that is observed in the Judeo-Christian faiths. The term derives from the Hebrew shābath "to rest", and the mandate is found in the Ten Commandments."

On the otherhand, Sabbath for the Christians perceived on Sunday... This is because Christ ressurected on a Sunday... We worship Christ on Sunday instead of the original Sabbath because here we remember Christ's suffering and God's love for us.

The sabbath is defined for everyone, in the 1st 5 books of Moses...

Genesis
Exodus
Leviticus
Numbers
Deuteronomy

...as the time between sunset on Friday night and sunset on Saturday night (further defined by the time when you can see 3 bright stars in the sky...this moment ends the sabbath with what is known as Havdala.).

For Anand...Easter shows up on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of Spring (first day of Spring is usually March 21st). The definition follows a lunar calendar because the holiday of Passover (and all Jewish months) also follows the lunar calendar. Jesus, who was Jewish, was in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover when he was crucified by the Romans.

I believe it was it was explained to me as follows:

Originally (Jews) were the chosen people and Saturday was the day of worship.GOD called several prophets to administer the gospel to the people.Remember there is no perfect-man,man continuously failed GOD.Christ stepped in sacrificed his life so that all of humanity will
have a continuous link to GOD.He was killed on a
Friday,he did not rise the dead that day because
certian individuals had to witness his death. He did
not rise on Saturday because that was the Holy day.
Keeping up with tradition of no work being done on
the Holy day.He rose early Sunday morning now we have Easter Sunday.Christ knew we needed a comforter until he come back. There fore he left the
Holy spirit.

The seventh day is SATURDAY...enough said. God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the seventh. We can either rest with him on the day he sanctified or keep working like slaves. I, for one LOVE resting. It's the only day I don't have to work without feeling guilty about it.

People do it on Sunday because pagans changed it...God didn't change a thing. I'm not really sure why people are so against resting, but Saturday/Sabbath is the holy day. You can do stuff on whatever day you want, but God only blessed the Seventh. Saturday.

Saturday has always been the Sabbath - early Christianity changed the Sabbath celebration from the Jewish observance of it being on Saturday to Sunday (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabbath for links with more details).

Good Luck!!!

The Jewish reckoning of "when a day begins" as being the sunset of the previous day. It is perfectly acceptable to celebrate a Vigil Mass on Saturday.

The Jewish sabbath was, and always will be, from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday.

Sunday is the Christian day of resurrection. The women went to the tomb early on the day *following* the sabbath.

The sabbath day is the seventh day of the weekly cycle. Sunday is the first day of the week, and was never given any sanction along the lines of the sabbath day. Christianity was to be devoid of ceremonies and rituals. It is not a religion of "works" where one "keeps a day."

this is the best i could do
Bible Principles: While this list of Bible principles on keeping the Sabbath holy is not comprehensive, it should help you as you search the Bible to learn how to be like Jesus and "do those things that are pleasing in His sight." 1 John 3:22
God will Teach You: In His word, God has given sufficient instructions on how to keep the Sabbath holy so that we can know His will without a doubt. As we read the Bible we can ask God for help in understanding His instructions.
