My cat is a female.
The only cat in the house and she has gone into heat 4 times in 2 months.
Is that normal?

this is COMPLETELY normal!!!

they go in and out of heat at "ANY GIVEN MOMENT"!!! there is NO WAY to predict when they will. they are not like dogs which cycle every 6 months. i've had to cancel appointments to have a few of mine spayed because they went into heat the day before (they can't be spayed when in heat)...... hope this helps answer your question.

p.s. from someone that has worked for a vet....PLEASE have her spayed. not being spayed brings HIGH risks to health problems in the future. not to mention that she is TOTALLY MISERABLE going in and out of heat...
doing so will make each of you much happier!

Normally a female cat goes into heat about every six to eight months, but during the warmer months it can increase to every few weeks. I had a cat that was in heat almost all the way through summer before. She would go through the cycle and just about as soon as it was done she would start all over again. The only way to get some peace is to get her fixed or let her get pregnant.

Sometimes it seems that cats are constantly in heat. Yes, it's normal, but the poor kitty seems to suffer. I think there's a switch in their brains that causes them to do strange stuff when they're in heat. My cat jumped up on the stove and peed in the back burner. That's got to be the ultimate in WRONG things to do. Normally she wouldn't even jump on the counter. Only two ways to stop the heat cycle -- pregnancy or spay. Some breeders have a male cat that has the equivalent of a vasectomy so he can still try to breed with the female but he's shooting blanks. If she's a pet, it's easier just to get her spayed. She'll be a better pet that way.

My cat is going through the same thing now. There are several cats that live outdoors in my area. I am assuming that though my cat is indoors, she is sensitive to the fact that they exist. I assume this may be part of the reason she is going in and out of heat so frequently when she never has before! If I could get her to stop long enough for me to her an appointment, I will definitely get her spayed ASAP! Your cat is not the only one - this is must be normal!

Having a cycle 4 times in 2 months is not normal. They can go into heat perhaps monthly or every 2 months. But not that often. You need to take kitty to a vet.

i´m sorry to say but a female cat going into heat 4 times in 2 months, is not normal.
i know this by experience. i have 5 cats and 4 of them are all girls and have gone into heat before getting them spayed. the average is they go into heat once every 6 months, so more or less twice a year. once getting them spayed, they don´t go into heat at all.

There must be a lot of male stud muffins in your area. Any cat that can got into heat that often is attracted to the population of available suitors. You must have some debonair male cats in your neighborhood. People who have cats will want to live there and help their cats join in. Maybe this is not a probelm if happiness of your cat is your first priority.

Cats can go into heat over and over again. Get her spayed. There are too many unwanted kittens. She will be a happy calm cat with less threat of catching diseases.

Yes this is normal. They are not like dogs that go into heat every six months. You also cannot predict how often they will.
