Isn't worshiping Jesus a false idol since he was made of flesh? I know he represented God but he was just a vessel as anyone else.

you are correct, worship of Jesus is Idolotry.
belief in jesus as anything more than a Man, is Idolotry.

we ALL have God within us, as Jesus did.

Jesus meant to be a role model, to show how people can live. to show that we can be one with God.

edit: >>"God in the flesh is a "false idol" - that's a new one."<<
the IDEA of "god in the flesh" is absurd and blasphemous. God is God. God manages to go through all of creation before Jesus without having to use a human form. he makes a point to never use any form that could be sculpted in a way thats not utterly abstract and indirect.

then you think he went 180 degrees and provided a nice big image an idol? absurd.

The old testament prophets spoke of the coming of Christ. We worship God the Father through the Savior Jesus Christ. We obey the laws that Christ set forth. He came not to do His will but the will of the Father. So by obeying Christ we are honoring the Father.

To Lady:
the meaning of the word Jesus, or Yeshua as it was pronounced in His native tongue is not God among us...
It means salvation. Some actually believe His name was spelled Yehoshua which means "God is a saving cry".

I have more of a problem with people worshiping the images of Christ, like those of Him on a Cross placed in and around churches and worn as pendants on the necks of followers. That is true idolatry.

I agree with you in the sense that I prefer that people realize they should be worshiping the energy that is Source and not the man who was Jesus.

Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and part of the Holy Trinity. That's way beyond the idols stuff. I suggest your read more theology and get informed on the subject before throwing out nonsense like this.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, you are so wrong. Christ was the embodiment of God, God in the flesh. God too went through a life in the flesh as it is appointed to all. He did this so that the whiners couldn't justify their slackness and cry out at judgment, "But you don't know what it was like, you weren't there". We follow the teachings of Christ as best we can and worship God the Father through His son Jesus Christ. Christ is the credentials that show God our faith.

You seem confused here.

The o.t. prohibits the worship of idols. There is no such thing as a "false" idol or a "true" idol.

Scripture reveals Jesus was indeed the God of the o.t.

It sounds like you are in a cult, as all cults diminish Jesus and the Holy Spirit in some manner.

Jesus is God, God is Jesus.
In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. John 1:1
Now the Word was Jesus, and what does the proper translation of Jesus mean; God with us.
Study and make sure you know what you are talking about before making such statements.
Don't believe another man, do your own research and find the truth.
Good luck in your studies.

All organized religions are self serving. Religion and government serve to keep people weak ignorant and fearful.
Strong intelligent people are to hard to control.
Its in the governments and religious institutions best interest to keep the masses in the dark and confused.
Jesus was a Jew by all accounts. he never taught the new testament. the Apostle Paul wrote over half the new testament by himself and this one of the people who persecuted Jesus.
None of it serves us today. its all just Christian Mythology.

God's revealed in scripture. Scripture points out how special Jesus was and dutiful Joseph, Mary's husband was. Jesus came to earth to teach humanity what God the Father is like. Look at statement like whatever you do to the least of my brethren that you do unto me and we are to love one another.
