about Religion, but then you pick a answer that totaly does not answer the question?
I have found this to be true on alot of questions, and was wondering, when asking a question, do you
1. Pick the answer that best answers your question {gain more knowledge}
or
2. Do you pick a answer that best describes how you feel, whether it is condeming or uplifting you feelings {that they agree with your views}
Thank You for taking the time to answer\
peace and blessings

This probably won't answer your exact question, but I have an opinion on the topic.
When someone asks a serious question, I make a sincere effort to be thoughtful and as succinct as possible.In short, I try to answer the question !
To my dismay, too many answers are not appreciated.
What's worse, I feel, is that the person asking the question loves the answer that is most reflective of his thinking! The asker leads the answerer to repeat what the asker already believed to be true.
Just my humble opinion. Hopefully I answered your question to some degree. I do believe, however, that we are in the minority.

Because most people will only choose a best answer that is similar to their own way of thinking. Someone could ask if the sky is really blue. One of the answers may be "I like green apples". If the person is thinking about green apples at the time, the answer that has nothing to do with the question will get best answer.

I shouldn't even answer you. I think I'm the worst answer picker ever! I try for no1, but when I have to choose I start looking into people's profiles, wondering who will enjoy most getting the 10 points, whatever, and get totally distracted. I end up wishing I could choose 10 best answers and sometimes actually chosing one that doesn't make much sense!

I personally don't ask many questions, but I have seen some poor judgments when it comes to picking the best answer. I've seen people ask a serious question but pick the answer that is against the belief, or makes light of it with a complete disregard of the seriousness of the question.

Personally, I do not ask questions on religion on here and have stopped answering (most) of the questions related to religion. Everyone has their own views on religion, but on Answers, it seems the magority rule is to be against God.
I myself am Christian, but I do not go to church. There is no church that follows what the Bible says, each makes up it's own rules.
It seems that most people get bashed on here when they admit they are Christian. Well bash me, I'm one. I'm no mightier than thou holy roller mind you, I just know God does exist and live a good life. I give to charity and help others freely. But I would do those things even if I wasn't a Christian

I think many people choose an answer that agrees with their point of view. I think some people either already know how they feel or what they want to hear or else they are goading the ones who do not agree with them. Their question is merely a thinly veiled attack.
This is SOMETIMES the case, IMO.

It depends on what I ask. If I'm seriously out for the most logical answer I'll choose it. If I'm playing around and just asking a stupid question or joking around I'll just pick someone that either agrees with me or left something funny just to give them some points.

I think the people in question here are picking their FRIENDS answer - regardless of how idiotic it might be...
I've actually seen (and reported successfully) people who ask a whole series of questions, and then awarded the Best Answer on ALL of them to the same person - and who answered using the SAME answer to all of them (usually "Yes") ;););)

The 'truth' can vary per person on Y R&S presently.
In my present opinion, the 'best' answer is the one that enlightens us the most on the topic (within volume limitations).
I presently believe in 'Christianity' that; 'We' are given the scriptures, and 'givins', and work from there. The flaws are in the givins'. Much division in 'Christianity' comes from not deleting the givins' presently.

Why do people ask religion questions, period? It always gets at least 5 responses from some devout Christian how there is one true God no matter what the question is, a bunch of atheists, a few agnostics, and a Jew for a good mix, and no one answers the question, and it just sits unresolved.
