it has nothing to do with homosexuality. If you look up Ezekial 16: 46-49 it tells you that the sin of Sodom was pride.

Why do you chose to ignore the verse in Ezekial? Do you do this just to condemn homosexuals?

Also until 1958 the word homosexual never was seen in the bible - as a matter of fact the words that were translated from Greek and Latin to mean homosexual are actually translated "effeminate male prostitute" and "those who do business with ..." ... so actually you are condemning those who are male prostitutes straight or gay ...

And this also means that in the original scriptures homosexuality wasn't really condemned in the bible.

I guess outside of all this information you will still come up with arguments to condemn everyone so I will close with one more reference to Romans 2.

Christians should concentrate on what the Bible is really about and not what they as humans interpret its scriptures as meaning.

There are 6 references to "homosexuality" in the Bible but in the originally Jewish texts (written in Greek and Hebrew" they use the terms discussed in the question.

Miss Manners it is not I who have wrote the Bible to disagree with my lifestyle but Christians who have translated the Bible and screwed up the original text soooo very much that it condemns everything and misses the right points. So why dont you get your brothers in christ to leave the scriptures alone and actually teach what was ACTUALLY wrote and not what they want everyone to believe. And while you are at it why dont you include all the books of the Bible the Church through out to save face. Like the book of Mary, yes, the book written by Mother Mary, Jesus's mom.

In Christian terms normal means able to procreate - this is what marriage is for and this is what sex is for. Too bad for my elderly grandmother who can't have children anymore, or for my aunt marsha who is in a wheelcheer and cant have children, or my sister who had to have a hysterectomy due to cancer - they are all abnormal and not allowed to have children with several of your guy's arguments.

I wish something could change them, but they are so close-minded that we will have to wait for their children to be the open-minded ones. I'm sure they used scripture in the early 1900's and earlier to promote the idea that women are second class citizens, and in the 1950's and earlier that people of color aren't even citizens, nor humans for a large part of history.
It is not new that people use their book of faith to demean and dehumanize others.

there are many inconsistencies in the Bible and yeah, the meanings seem to change in relation to the current fads. The King James version of the Bible is a perfect example of how the Bible has evolved to meet the current demands. King James asked that the bible be translated and named after him. He hired poets and famous writers, and some say that he even hired William Shakespear, who was a good friend to King James's people at the time. In those times, women were seen as second class citizens and so James ordered that the story of Lilith be removed. James was also resonsible for having the Hebrew word for young woman to be translated to "virgin" which are two different things, and so what does that do to Mary? Also, the Hebrews had no belief in eternity. The name for Hell came from the name of a town's firepit, where folks burned their garbage and other waste. The fires were never put out, but kept burning, and known as the eternal flame and if you were condemned, it was feared, you'd wind up getting thrown into it.
There's no doubt that the bible was molested by the people of power over the centuries and always changes. It doesn't seem that Christians follow the teachings of Christ, but focus more on how important it is to be with the "In Crowd".

I personally believe that the Bible is no more factual than Greek Mythology. I am baffled all too often as to how a perfectly intelligent individual can twist his/ her reasoning to such a degree that they can verbally state they buy into the story written years sometimes centuries after the so called fact. Furthermore, why is it that Christians , if they wish to live a life of fantasy must also be certain that their neighbor believes the same theory? I mean what difference does my belief or disbelief in conduct and the afterlife have any affect on my neighbor. The human brain is certainly not very evolved when emotionalism can overpower clear reason. I do recall however when I was 10 and I pretty much knew there was no Santa Clause through deductive reasoning. I was however immature enough to stir myself into a emotional fantasy that I felt it more fun and comforting to just pretend that I believed. It seems e will always be master of I (emotion/ intellect) because the former takes less effort and honesty. kurt Niziak

I think that just because you are picking up on some homo-phobia with some of the church community does not give you license to say homosexuality is not a sin. I refer to you 1Corn 7:27-(as far as you want to read) I see no reference to homosexuality being an option here. The importance of marriage and fidelity is ephasized in God's word along with the sanctification of children produced by that marriage. I see nothing in the bible that condones homosexual lifestyles or marraiges, and if you believe in God you realize that if Jesus wanted to condone it he would have made a point of doing so while he walked this earth. After all he did know what a huge issue it would become in the future generations. What I do not understand is the obsession with trying to find justification in the bible for this lifestyle. I would have thought multiple wives would be the more likely sin someone would try to justify before this one! It's medically proven a gay lifestyle causes damage to your body and your body is not meant for such things, that alone should indicated that God did not design man with this option in mind. I don't condemn anyone, by the way.

I have never done this. You are not telling the truth when you say, "Christians...you ALWAYS use the story....."
Best get your facts straight before you make such a comment, or, at least, qualify.

You look foolish when you make allegations that you cannot prove. YOU should concentrate on telling the truth and NOT making such sweeping generalizations, as well as refraining from attacking those who have said nothing about the matter with which you are concerned.

I have never condemned homosexuals. If you would take the time to read my posts, you would see that I have said that homosexuals are blessed to find love.

Before you make further statements, I suggest that you read every single post thatevery single Christian has made here and on every other forum on every other web site. You might also speak with every Christian on Earth. THAT way, when you use the word "always," you won't be telling an untruth.

Have a good day.

In regards to your last paragraph, you are guilty of the very thing you accuse others of.

Paul addresses this, as you point out in Romans 2, but in such a way as to leave no doubts regarding this behavior, should it be the "prostitute" or the one who enlists their services.

Your citation of Ezekiel and your appeal as to why people ignore that verse is interesting in that you engage in the same practice, by ignoring other references to Sodom and its sister city Gomorrah.

Peter points out that their destruction was to be an example of those who live ungodly lives.

Is practicing homosexuality ungodly? You try to obfuscate this by saying the word wasn't used in translation until 1958. This use of a logical fallacy fools no one but yourself.

You begin your tirade with an accusation against Christians who use the story to condemn homosexuality. Not so, it is God's Word that condemns such behavior, and Christians merely point it out to people such as yourself. You condemn the messenger, and ignore the message.

You should try reading the Bible for some answers before you mock that which you know nothing about! (Jude 1:10 says: "But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves")

Jude 1:7 says, "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

But if this isn't enough, read Paul's letter to the church in Rome (refferred to as Romans), the first chapter. It clearly lays out that when men lay with men, and when women lay with women, they have a reprobate (depraved) mind!

God created man and woman to reproduce and populate the earth---that was his plan and he blessed marriage and made it holy. The Bible clearly states that "only the Marriage bed is undefiled" and ANY sex outside of marriage is a sin and some types of sex are "abominations" as well. Sodom and Gomorrah are just one example of God's punishment for extra-marital sex and other sins.

the bible is a collection of stories meant to illustrate the human condition and as such must be interpreted as it means different things to different readers. your own church leaders make a perfect example of this. why so many denominations if not for interpretation? religious belief is merely a reflection of societal evolution after all...
