The tree is symbolic of becoming self conscious; we were no longer "one" in our ignorance; the ego was born resulting in a division in consciousness creating the illusion of "duality"

It was the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil that God forbade. The tree was a representation of wanting to be like God or equal to him. satan had been thrown down from heaven for trying to ascend to God's throne.........the tree represented the choice for Adam and Eve to try and do the same. There cannot be good without the deliberate rejection of Evil. LIght always dispells the darkness.

Adam and Eve had it made before the snake and the fruit of that tree. They had total protection and provision provided by God Himself. Once they ate, sin came into their world and they lost God's provision and protection and had to protect and provide for themselves. God set up that Garden because His world was created for choices that man could make. We can choose God or we can choose Satan, man, a false religion or an idol which are all the same as choosing the devil. So we choose God or Satan. We can obey God or we can obey Satan.

The tree of wisdom was filled with the knowledge of good and evil. God did not want man to have the knowledge of evil, but seeming that He gave man free will, of course we just had to see for ourselves. It is up to us now to put aside the evil and follow His commandments, to do good. It is for our own good that we do this, for when Jesus returns, we will reap the rewards. By the way the tree was not really a tree but Satan himself, he is the author of evil.

If you eat from the tree of knowledge you will surly die. Because once you know the truth you know its all a lie, not just religion but society also. So you see the less you know the better off you are, because if you know it does you no good because you can not change it no matter how hard you try.

If Eve wanted wisdom should she have tried to get it from a tree? I believe one may get wisdom from God and it has always been true.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. ~KJV

Because it's just a myth.
Or it wouldn't be that much of fun for god. Remember he is all-knowing, he knew what was gonna happen,it was all his plan for adam and eve to sin. that's where the fun begins!
Then he figured that the fun wasn't enough and planned to come down to earth himself some years later to play a part in his own 'drama' production.

Excellent question! For the answer you need to read the accurate account of this event given to us by Jesus in The Apocryphon of John. Moses got it all wrong.
