I love Fresh Step, I haven't found one that works better yet. I've heard good things about Arm and Hammer, but I didn't care for it.

Hi Marina,
My Cinnamon is 5 months old now. I use Sainsburys regular Clupling litter. I find that clumps better then the others I have tried and is also quite cheap. I have now bought a large plastic box slightly higher and wider then her litter tray. So her litter tray is on th inside. This is placed on a plastic bath mat and a large beach towel. I'm hoping that with the bigger box and lose litter will go into there.

The litter is getting caught in between his toes when he uses the box.
The easy fix for this is to get a square of that astroturf or outdoor plastic grass and set that in front of the box so he has to walk over it to get in and out. That makes the toes spread out and the litter that's caught in his feet will fall out there and not get tacked everywhere.
That's the downside of that type of litter--it's so tiny that it ends up in the bed, on the floor, etc. Larger size litter like clay or 'yesterdays news' which is little tubes, those stay closer to the box, though there will still be some tracked further around the house.

When our cats were kittens (they are 1 now and they go outside alot) we used a cat litter from Netto's called Majestic-£1.19 a bag. This was recommended as we changed the litter every couple of days and it has little blue stones in it that really stop the smell of wee and poo. Our cats won't entertain any other litter. I know its from Netto's but it's not bad. It's like what the others have said- any litter will spread when it's kicked out.

Fresh step is great. Clean the litter box daily and add some baking soda to the kitty litter. Then use an open box of baking soda by the litter box to eliminate the oder. This works wonders.
If you place a small carpet/rug by his litter box, he will wipe his little paws on it and he will not track the litter everywhere. Have a great weekend. Patti

There is a brilliant one (i get mine from B and M, or wilkinsons), its called City Cat, Pearlised. It really absorbs any smells, doesnt clump together, and lasts for about a month before it needs changing - obviously you have to remove the poo each time. I have recommended it to all my friends with cats, and they wont go back to the clumpy sort any more. Its about £2.59p but its really worth it, especially as it lasts up to a month - how much would you normally spend in a month on cat litter? Its great value and its great for the smell factor!

I have the same problem with my cats' litter. I bought a cheap, washable, soft rug with long fibers and put it outside the litter box and when they step on it, the litter comes out on the rug and I wash the rug regularly to keep it clean.

PetsMart (in store) sells kitten attract. Its specially formulated to attract kittens to it and it won't stick to there little paws like adult cat litter will.
I believe its approx. $ 12 a bag.
Here some info on it.
