this is the proper way to do it, and u wont roll back an inch. and btw, if u roll back into someone, it is ur fault not their's. u are supposed to be in total control of the car.

first, if at a dead stop, engage the hand brake, just remember that the hand brake doesnt light up the brake lights.
when its time to go, slowly release clutch until u can feel it grab. now start to release the hand brake while at the same time releasing more clutch and adding gas. this is a co-ordinated manuver, but 1 that is easily mastered with just a bit of practice. after u get used to the feel of when the clutch is just holding the car in place, u can basically 'hover' at a ramp just holding the clutch and with enough gas to keep from stalling, but i generally dont keep in a hold like this for longer than 20 seconds so the clutch doesnt overheat.

Easy if your car has a hand brake. Just release it as you start off. And with practice you will be able to get it in gear give it enough gass as your releasing the foot brake to keep the car from rolling back to much. You have three feet don't you? The more powerfull the car the easier it is to engage the clutch with out stalling the engine. In a year you will be an expert at stoping on hills. Practice Practice

Trick is to let out the clutch while keeping your foot on the brake and when you feel the engine start to lug or feel like it's going to stall, release the brake quickly and push on the accelerator. Don't let the clutch out until you're moving forward---try practicing on a hill where there's no traffic behind you. Takes some practice until you get the hang of it. If you roll into someone, it shouldn't do much damage but you would be at fault.

Practice letting your clutch out until it engages(holds your car in place). After awhile you will have no problems starting and should not roll back. If the person right behind you gets that close, ask him to move back, or call the police. They are probably trying to get hit by you.

When clutch engages I use accelerator to help hold vehicle in place, Steeper the grade more pedal used. I've gotten used to it and won't drift an inch back.
