Some people are killed as mere babies. Some are aborted before that. Some die as children, some as young adults. Some grow incredibly old.
Most die in circumstances completely beyond their control. War, abuse, violence, natural disasters, the list goes on.
Given that in most major western belief systems everyone gets only one shot at life before judgment, who doesn't everyone get the same amount of time and the same chances?

last jedi: I've just made a strong case that not everyone gets the same chances. Yelling "but it is true" does not amount to much of an answer.

no Ecc 9:11 I even have stated something else decrease than the sunlight. The quickest runner does not consistently win the race, and the premiere warrior does not consistently win the conflict. The sensible in specific circumstances pass hungry, and the skillful at the instant are not unavoidably wealthy. and people who're knowledgeable do no longer consistently lead powerful lives. it is all desperate by risk, by way of being interior the suitable place on the suitable time. Ecc 9:12 human beings can by no skill are awaiting while difficult cases would come. Like fish in a internet or birds in a seize, persons are caught by way of unexpected tragedy.

Another question would be how come when a question is asked that these religious folks cant answer they give you a crappy one liner send off? Dude at the top, i think he wanted and explanation, everyone knows you think jesus is the bees knees and the answer to everything, but to those of us w/ half a brain, that just doesn't cut it. That's like asking who has the power to end famine and you answer the tooth fairy for all the good it does.
Good question though, hypnopope.
And what does free will have to do w/ an unborn or young child dying of natural causes? SO, if i have a miscarriage, or my 1 yr old falls ill and dies, that's due to free will? If just one of you folks could answer a question w/o hypocrisy I would drop and give you 20 hail marys.

My God doesn't believe in equality, he doesn't believe in the afterlife either.
Then again I am not of a Christian view.
In my beliefs God is no more concerned with your life or mine, than he is concerned with a blade of grass.
The justification: I honestly believe life is being observed and Evolution is part of this, I don't believe it is within my dietys power to make everyones life equaly comfortable, nor is it a concern. I think random events are responsible for how life has advanced. To create everyone equal would be to create everyone identical this would remove the purpose life from an observational point of view. I also believe that humans were never specifically created, we are just part of the universe surrounding us.

I come here for the jokes these fundies spew without knowing.
I have been asking this question for years - never have I received an answer that makes sense let alone be seen as adequate in a court of law cos y'all duck down behind scriptural bullshit.
Tell me (and all my girls - Frank Zappa - Mudshark), tell me and all my girls, why was I lucky enough to have been born with intelligence, in affluence, given every opportunity in a xian Kultcha to hear the word of 'god' and the poor native in the New Guinea Highlands (or the native in central Oz or the native born into absolute starvation in Darfur) were given NONE of the same advantages BUT 'god' still expects them to perform as I; 'he' expects us all to come to him willingly no matter what the obstacles and ONLY ONE LIFETIME TO DO IT IN.
My question?
Why was I so lucky to have had all the opportunities handed to me on a platter?
They can't answer that cos their religion is a sham and their philosophy is sentimental at best and cruelly deficient at worst.

Several of the things you mentioned are the result of man's inhumanity to man. So in those cases, the question is more about why do WE allow those things to happen. Natural disasters seem to just that..natural. Whether you believe in evolution or creation, our ecosystems work in a certain way and changes come with such power that they overwhelm man's ability to control them. As far as judgment, everyone is judged according to the amount of light they have received about God. An educated man like yourself would of course be held to a different standard than an infant, or tribesman in darkest wherever. This is an in-depth question, and needs more time and space than Yahoo Answers is capable of delivering. My answer is in-complete at this point.

First you have to believe you have a soul, this soul has been around the block a few times too.We are all in different stages of our souls development, some souls have accumulated more or less karma before they got here and have different and varying amounts of lessons to learn. Some souls have been rather good before they got here or are just very old and they may get a pleasant journey this time around, others have been more resistant previously and now they have hard lessons to learn. As for the very young dying I think that soul may have just wanted a brief adventure, since our soul knows there is no death "dying" young doesn't mean much. There are no coincidences or circumstances beyond our control if we plan ahead and make wise choices, however after these circumstances become manifest then you're in the thick of it and it can be way harder to deal with.So think ahead, make wise choice in the now.And yes I'm a Christian too,go figger.

It depends on how you define 'life'.
Earth is the insane asslyum of the universe. As fallen angels, we are all imprisoned here so we can't hurt anyone besides ourselves and eachother.
Once you operate from the premisis that LIFE is NOT confined to this sorry little swine-hole of a world and that REAL LIFE starts when you escape this planet, then everything takes on a different light.
Better to ask why are so many of us stuck here while our more fortunate bretherns receives paroles and pardons.

A god of equality is a nice thought, but that's as far as that day dream goes. He hates those that aren't physically perfect. They aren't even allowed in the temple. There is no justification for all the untimely deaths and suffering we see and experience. And, I am really sick and tired of the excuses that are made for god and his sick sense of humor and life. We make our lives what they are, not some god or savior on high. Equality? When he has a "chosen" people? Hahahaha. Good to see you, pope. You made me laugh harder than I ever have in my life with one of your questions. Just wanted to tell you thanks. I still laugh about it.

We are judged by the light within us. Read St Augustine's monograph; On the Resurrection of the Unborn, that should help.
God wants all men to be saved, hence the urgency of preaching the gospel. If you observe the way Christ dealt with men and women he judged their heart not their professed beliefs. If you studied the Bible in particular Paul's letter to the Romans, God reveals Himself through creation and all men are given a conscience. God is not as legalistic as the Pharisees who sought to trap Him for healing the sick on the Sabbath. And if you are good enough to please God by your own works you will be the first one ............................... so to close, everyone DOES get the same Judge and He judges on the amount of light a man possesses and how he thus lives. You and I are included in that judgement. I assume we have both heard the gospel. I believe it to be true. You don't. Do we have the same light? Have you really heard it or is your exposure to it limited to easy believism or works righteousness? Both are a total travesty of the Truth.
