I've always thought it'd be cool to have a girl as a ring bearer. Why is it taboo for a girl to be a ring bearer?

I think it's only a tradition but traditions have been changed in many aspects in weddings.

For example, you use to have a man give the bride away, now days your mom can give you away.

Those traditions were started when females had no authoritative role in life but things have changed now and the world knows that.

There is no reason why you can't have a girl ring bearer but a boy flower girl may be pushing it a little because boys don't normally like to carry flowers.

In todays world you can do anything you want on your wedding day, it's your day, if people don't like it, it's their problem not yours!

It's not taboo. I have been to a wedding where a little girl carried the ring pillow. No big deal. If you want the ring bearer to be a girl, that is not a problem.

No one said it had to be.... go ahead and have a girl!
Often people have a boy be the ring bearer to go with a girl being the flower girl - just so there are positions for children of each gender. However, it's not taboo - it's an option....

It ISN'T taboo.

You can have a girl as a ring bearer, a boy as a flowerboy, men on the bride's side and women on the groom's side, etc etc.

Have a girl as a ring bearer if you want to.

There's nothing that says the ringbearer HAS to be a boy. This is based simply on tradition. Having a ringbearer and a flowergirl nowadays is simply a way to include little children in the ceremony.

It doesn't have to be at all. Let the little girl you want carry the rings. If I could I would have my puppy bring them to us.
