Climate change is the term preferred by Alarmists because 0.7 C warming in 150+ years is not scary enough. Even if you take the IPCC's consensus view and analyze what parts of climate change they attribute to man BESIDES temperature, the ONLY phenomenon that they have done any studies on is droughts, everything else is just opinion. And the scientists will only give a "greater than 50%" probability that they are right about these drought studies - not much better than a coin flip. What would you expect for $60 billion?
Global weather and climate are created by temperature differences, whether it is between differing land features, sea to land, pole to equator, day to night, season to season. If you look at the temperature modeling and studies that climatologists have done the global temperature increase comes NOT from an increase in the upper limits of global temperatures, but in an increase of the lower limits. In other words, the range of temperature differences is DECREASING, which should actually have a moderating effect on weather and climate.

Generally, climate “Warming” is just that: a portion of the scientific community generally believes that the earth will warm and if not stopped, will eventually lead to a planet climate similar to Venus.
Generally, climate “Change” encompasses the theory above but adds that the earth has experienced similar actions before and has mechanically countered by having an ice age.
“It sometime also assumes that "global warming" or "change" is actually a local or regional effect, thus, there are different climate effects in different regions.
Generally, except for those that believe the climate will warm, the correct term is climate “Change”; however, that term has been politicized to lessen the effect of the term "Warming".
Therefore, re. Your question above: "how is climate change connected to global warming?" "Change" and "warming" can be one in the same or different depending on either the interpretation or intent.
---------------
Below is another explanation that includes a proven man-made cause that might help explain further:
I do not think that many completely understand the problem and the probable major cause.
Most all will agree that the climate is warming (or "Changing" as it could freeze, as it has done so in the past) and generally speaking, with some anomalies, that was the case until the 1950's; it warmed gradually. Much of that warming could be caused mainly by nature.
However, the trend since the 1950's has been a rapid rise in Warming; hundreds to perhaps, thousands of times faster than before.
There has been several suspected causes, but, to my knowledge, only one major man-made cause has been significantly proven.
Jet aircraft came to age in the 1950's and the increase in "flights" follows the warming trend
... keeping in mind that world climate change is really a local effect not necessarily global (Ruthenberg, 2007).
There have been many studies around the world including NASA (Minnis, several) predicting that jet aircraft, with all of it effects (particulate, ice crystals, CO2, NOx, contrails, etc.), is a major cause of Climate Change.
However, it was not until the events of 9-11, when thousands of flights were grounded for 3 days in North America, that there was there a provable effect.
During those 3+ days, only 7 military aircraft flew in the U.S. And at the same time, the temperature dropped over the US area by over 1 degree Centigrade, diurnally!
That is pre-1950 record temperature, before commercial jets.
Surely, jet aircraft is provable and man-made cause of a significant amount of the problem.
What is more concerning, is that jet flights are predicted to grow massively in the next few years; mainly, as a result of the 2008 economic globalization treaties and other industry-government growth schemes.
Unless world government, led by the U.S., "puts the brakes on" until, aviation technology can catch up to the two major problems (significant public heath problems and our climate problems), we are headed for very serious trouble, possibly in the very near future; the U.S. GAO and IPCC says that "technology alone will not help this problem.” (You must cut back on flights)

I agree with Trevor. Climate changes and global warming are two seperate things, but shady politicians are blending the two for their own agenda. Global warming is a natural cycle. Since the end of the last ice age -approx. 10,000 years ago we have been in a warming cycle which will last who knows how long? Many things contribute to global warming including the orbit of the earth around the sun, its particular tilt for starters. The internal core of the planet, the shifting continental plates, etc. all of these things affect global warming, and global cooling. The climate changes according to the above. The Gulf Stream, the other streams in the ocean that heat or cool effecting climate in their part of the world. Finally, yes, greenhouse gas effects both, and we can cut down on greenhouse gas, but global warming/cooling and climate changes will still continue, perhaps not at the same rate but they will continue.

Climate change and global warming are two separate things, they always have been. Some people and some sections of the media wrongly transpose the two which can lead to confusion.
Global warming is the term we use to describe the overall progressive rise in temperatures that are occurring across the globe - partly as a result of natural cycles and partly as a result of human activities. The correct term for the human part is anthropogenic global warming (it avoids confusion between natural and manmade global warming).
Climate change is the term used to describe the effects of global warming. As the planet warms up there is a multitude of ways in which the higher temperatures affect the weather and climate. There's the obvious warming up but there's also changes to rainfall, snow, wind, humidity, storms etc.

Global warming is a specific phenomena where man made greenhouse gases (mostly) are increasing the average temperature of the Earth.
Climate change is a more general term that includes global warming and all the changes that result from it, such as altered patterns of precipitation.
The terms are often used interchangeably, which is not quite correct, but is accepted "common usage".

There is no such thing as global warming. It is a phantom conjured up by the dangerous and criminal liberals to scare everybody into voting for them because"they care".Climate change, however,is a naturally occurring cycle that the earth goes through largely determined by solar cycles.Co2 IS NOT POLLUTION!!!!!!!!!!Besides.Water vapor in the atmosphere is the main cause of the minute changes in temperature.
