Unless we are created by God, life cannot have any real meaning. All of our own attempts to give our lives meaning just result in doing those things that make us feel good about ourselves. Without God, it's all about feelings and there is no reality behind the feelings, i.e. the feeling of meaning is the only reality. So if we reject God, we just do whatever makes us feel good. End of story.

But if we are created by God, then our purpose must be to seek Him for God must have put our great need for meaning into our human nature to point us to seek Him.
