Actually there is no one globally correct answer. Depending on the chemistry of the crude oil a simple refinery can produce the kind of product splits mentioned above. But the whole refinery industry is interested in meeting the varying demands for different refinery products and they can alter the processing with cracking and reformation to produce more or less gasoline as well as more or less diesel or other products. The industry works cooperatively exchanging heavier products in one area with lighter products in another so as to optimise the whole commercial operation.

From this, 18 to 20 gallons of gasoline are produced.
(This is along with many other hydrocarbon compounds that are used to produce many thousands of other products. (From hundreds of millions of barrels per day of crude oil around the world).
