my black and grey striped short haired domestic cat question?

i have been told my cat witch is a domestic short haired cat is a different breed because it has very black pads on its paws and it is a large cat that loves playing with my dog,it also has a lot of loose skin on his under belly. Dose any one know if this is true or false ? Thank you .

Domestic Shorthair for a cat is basically like saying "mutt" for dog.

Any short haired cat with no obvious association with any breed is referred to as Domestic Shorthair. (the same goes for Domestic Longhair)

Unless you bought your cat from a breeder, your cat is a Domestic Shorthair.

Domestic Shorthair means that your cat is not from any breed and is a moggy or non-pedigree cat, as are the vast majority of cats. There is an enormous variation among domestic cats so any features you describe fit within that.

If you want a cat which is from a specific breed you need to buy one from a breeder.

Your cat may have some distant bloodline, but you will never know. Domestic cats are all sizes, colors and personalities. I have 5 cats, all from the same litter. One boy is HUGE, long black and white hair...not fur. His brother is a big one too but striped with short hair, one girl is solid black,long hair, and the other girl is soooo tiny. she looks like a kitten compared to her brothers. The other girl I have is not from this litter, so she is not related.

Domestic shorthair is the name of the average non-pedigreed cat, it's what 99% of cats are.

Tabby, calico, ginger, torti, bicolor, tuxedo, all those are coat color descriptions and aren't breeds at all. It just describes the color or coat pattern of the cat.

Short hair is as well mainstream, I love lOng hair on guys more, it looks sexy: 3 short hair can look nice yet it looks really common
