Many Catholics today believe they are Christians and that the Catholic Church began with Jesus giving Apostle Peter the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. They still believe that their church is the one true church and anyone outside the Catholic Church is not saved.

No, Christianity didn't die when Catholicism because the state religion of hte Holy Roman Empire.

If your claim was true, Catholicism/Christianity would have disappeared when the Holy Roman Empire collapsed. Since Catholicism/Christianity is alive and well, long after the collapse of the Holy Roman Empire, I respectfully disagree with your assessment.

Are you saying religion was born to be bigger and more popular with the world than christianity ever could be?
Is that why the KJV Bible published for the world in 1611 CE, when religion has existed so much longer, the bible did not stop WW1 at 303 years later or WW2 at 327 later with 7 years of war to go?
Does religion really over ride the bible?

Something died all right, not sure if I would label it christianity or not. Think I would call it The faith once delivered to the Saints. Any ideas on how to bring it back?

How can they say it died if they are Christians? If it died, there would be no Catholics.
