Is it a family heirloom , or do you collect working antiques??

I would personally look at a new TV. Maybe a LCD or Plasma. You may have heard of them??

I worked on PYE B/W tvs in the mid fiftys , my first TV was a PYE , it had a 9inch screen and had an oil filled magnifier strapped onto the front !
The receiver was a TRF type only one station and the tubes were mostly EF50s which were a metal can construction. Okay so I am an old bugger but I worked at TV repair right up to 2003 !!!
If you want to give more info on your set I will try to help. You can e-mail me !
Cheers Pete

Sadly I think its unlikely any repair place would do it - the parts are probably no longer available for it and it would be beyond economical repair.
