I don't drink like I used to, but when I worked at dillon's I noticed that the rice wine had a decent amount of alcohol and did not have an age requirement for sale. I know this would not be advisable but I am curious about what would happen. Stomach ache? Squirts? Or is it just the taste that keeps teenagers away.

Other than being rather nasty, it's also got salt in it. More than you'd care to drink. Alcohol + salt = accidental dehydration.

Uhm, yeah, rice wine is sake, and it's illegal to sell to minors. Believe me, I card people buying it all the time. And you don't have to be "desperate" to drink it, lots of people love it.

...And I don't know about the fermentation process, but it's rice "wine," not beer. In fact, it typically has a higher alcohol percentage than most wines; around 18-19%.

Rice wine is about 15% alchohol and in my opinion tastes great! What would happen? Well just like any alchoholic drink, you would get drunk, nothing more. I tend to not have as many hangovers as I would if I had white/red wine.

I guess its not that popular so its not drunk as much, or its more expensive than its counterparts.

well if its wine and has alcohol in it and its sold in the US then there IS a age limit on it. what you describe is a sake type alcoholic beverage and they can produce some really mean hangovers.

The $hit$ probably. Is it Saki? Because Saki is more beer then wine. It is brewed not distilled.

What, did it have a sign on it saying "You won't be carded for this"? I doubt it. If you bought a bottle underage the cashier broke the law.
