The times, they are a-changin'... and yet they're not.
This is actually a somewhat difficult question. It deals with social mores, which don't change overnight. It IS becoming more acceptable (or at least less objectionable) for a woman to be sexually active, although there can still be a stigma attached to being thought of as promiscuous. This depends on the area, as well as the group of people you tend to be around.
So, is it fair that men don't generally have the same stigma? No, but that's the way it is. Whether it bothers you or not is your own decision. And by the way, not everybody feels that it is OK for men to "sleep around" either.
As for your comment about virginity and marriage: actually, pretty much all the people that I know who feel a woman should "save herself" for marriage (or at least for true love) also say the same thing about men. Others may disagree, but it may not be as lopsided as you think... except in the movies, of course!
Just remember, things are changing. At what seems to be glacial speed, perhaps, but they are changing.

I agree with you 100% on this. But then i think most guys/men have doubl standards in their thinking. They would not want their sisters to be having sex with any other guy other than her husband but they will want to sleep with others sisters. Also guys want a virgin for their wife (loyal and devoted) but they want to sleep around with women and gain experience... as they so say !!!
More over, once married, men would not like their wives even talking to other men and if their wives talk or smile, there will be hundreds of questions that will be asked to her but even after marraige, men wana sleep around with other women..... sometimes to vent their frustration or sometimes to only just see if they are man enough or sometimes in the name of boredom......
Men are basically mean and lowly beings with very narrow thinking. And it does not matter what nationality is the man of. All men - Indian, american, british, from any part of the globe will think on the same lines and behave in the same way. All men at any age, religion and part of hte globe if has a woman in front of him who he feels he can sleep with will never let go off that chance. But when it comes to getting a woman home as his wife, he will want a woman who wears non revealing clothes and who has never ever slept or been touched by any other man.
HYPOCRITES OF THE FIRST ORDER !!!!!

You know what, i think it's all stupid except the last part. What the fck do you mean guys can do it but girls can't? when you said guys, did you include ALL of us? and when you said that if you think it's ok for guys to, then girls should be able to also, to get even? how stupid. And it's not ok for guys to, it's true that virginity and sex and physical contact, even kissing on the cheek is just for someone whom you love and will spend your life with.

Take a close look on 'them' who talk about female virginity - you will find most of them to be female . Most women take pride of being or at least pretending virgin as if it is the most valuable treasure on earth (to lure goody guys and earn livelihood for the rest of the life in exchange of it) . So they try to keep it intact for whom she will marry one day . On the other hand , the guys and right thinking girls know it very well that virginity never counts when you have qualities and brilliance to be successful in life . So if a girl can make herself important , can meet her livelihood , can bring up children/look after parents on their own , (at least financially ) should not bother about virginity !

Females are held in a higher regard and to a higher standard because we are the nurtures, the ones that usually hold things together. We raise the young and therefor we must be the best example possible. Think about it... would you want to know your mom was an easy lay and slept around? I bet if someone called your mom an easy lay youd be ready to fight.
Get use to it. Life isn't fair, double standards suck and it has been this way for generations.

um.. its just the way the world is. Females may have all the rights that Males have, Howver, females are still treated diferently. Like how ppl sometimes says, women are always naggy etc. (thats what guys say.. seriously, i dont mean it as an insult, its just something we say =/) and girls say guys are unclean, etc. w/e girls say..
Or a better example would be, who picks up the tab, usuallly its guys first right?
How about this then, its cool for a girl to wear guy clothing, but when a guy wears girl clothing, its down right freaky, and is.. discusting.
sry, but thats just the way the world is 2day =/

Welcome to Gender Roles ascribed by society.
No brainer here darling, its simple. You live in our world darling, and that's it. Either live by it, or defy it.
It sucks, but imagine a guy WHO DOES save himself for marriage, imagine the pain he goes through being criticized for not acting like "male" should be. Imagine the fact that he prefers a long-life partner outside the context of sex. To make matters worse, "some" girls actually encourage that in guys.
Anyways - your question has no direct answer. Sorry to say this but that question works both ways. What happens when you meet a guy who doesn't act like that? How marginalized do you think he is? And what about a girl who is independent and actually celebrates her sexual freedom? Both sides face a lot of harsh argument.

I do believe it's unfair to women to do these things because these men gives sexually transmitted diseases to decent women. Like a butterfly hopping and trampling from one flower to the other. Blaming on women losing their virginity for the man they love is unfair too because these men fooled these women. Making believe they truly love these women when what they are truly after is their virginity only. Allowing men to fool around and not allowing women to do the same is really unfair to women. I wonder where this idea started. I guess this idea started with men too fooling around with women that it is okay to do such a thing. I wish their is someone who can mutilate these men who are like these, to stop them to do such a thing.

I always thought the same as you did. After I got married I realized my husband was fooling around with other woman & I just couldn't take it. Of course eventually I got divorced after 13 yrs of unbearable married life. I'm now very happy with my kids...
