I will apologise firstly to the religeous people and I respect your decision to follow one religion or another but it is impossible for me to believe in a god or any particular religion when the evidence of a god is insumountable. I think as mankind evolves we will one day be a religious free society, if religeous extremests don"t destroy the earth first in the name of god.

I have a question for all the so called "atheist" and "non believers" here.

Why are you here to begin with? You all out number us believers in this section. So why are you here to begin with if you don't believe, care not to have it shoved down your throat, care not to hear about it, won't listen to it, accept it, or even take the time to understand it.

Again I ask.... why are you here then?

See I ask this from an atheist stand point for I was a HARD CORE atheist for 30 yrs. Even used the Shroud of Turin as my foundation to preach to the fools leading the fools, as I saw religion.

Yet I NEVER entered into religion chats, blogs, sites, forums, let alone attend church or dealt w/ people that did. For I did not want any part of it, and as a sane, rational, logical human I stayed away from what I did not want in my life.

So it blows my mind that you all out number the believers here for it is not logical for you claim you personally believe being a non believer. I must assume you do believe but are either, A. scared to come out of the closet afraid someone is gonna point at you and make fun of you that you believe. or B, you use to believe, but due to religion, church or a preacher/priest you lost your way due to the lies those items DO produce. You still know there is a G_D but unsure what it actually is due to the lies that have been fed to you.

Just something that boggles my mind every time I come into this section.

I am always humored by the arguement that religion causes all wars. What a load of garbage.

First of all look at other primates. They are vicious and do terrible things to each other. They have hand to hand combat. They have wars. I have yet to see a Chimp pray, or say in the name of Allah!!!

Besides all that we live on a tiny rock with limited resources. When resources get low people fight... plain and simple.

If you have ever glanced at the Art of War you will find soldiers who believe they are fighting a just war will fight much harder.

With that said religion has started no war. It is just use as a moral booster. That is like saying a pep talk from a coach started the football game... and without the pep talk there would be no game. It makes no sense at all. War is war... it comes with life, has always been here and always will... at least until we figure out how to live forever and space travel.

Religion could be abolished and forgotten about today, and nothing, or very little, would be solved. Belief is the real problem. Religion just gives us a framework for our beliefs. We'll continue to believe without it: this or that belongs to me, or this is the right way to do this. Religion is the center around which all of this spins for the moment, this ancient conflict of me vs. all of you.

It gets more complicated: this is the way to do this/ no THIS is the way to do this. That's the essential conflict between religions, and it goes all the way from religion to arguments between neighbors trying to cook hamburgers at a bbq.

The only way to stop that conflict is to realize that in the me vs. all of you conflict, "me" IS "all of you." We're all people, and the differences we see are illusions.

Your idea is UTOPIAN but I share the dream with you.The 'God-thing' has given humans nothing but miseries and historically has been the cause of greater sufferings than all the natural calamities put together.

Dont underestimate the power of brain wash. As much as science, politics, medicine has progressed, religion has always pervaded our lives. I cant think of a single atheist society. If we ever are able to get rid of religion, its gonna be a long, long, long, long, time...

I doubt it, only because there will always be people who will look for a meaning to life beyond our mortality. It's just natural to many of us.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. -Stephen Weinberg

Jesus said they'd be people like you. He calls them "goats"

Mat 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:

Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
