I think its an acquired taste for some. I used to sneak sips off my dad's beer when he wasnt looking when I was a kid. It just has this kind of funky flavor that you dont really LOVE but you kinda have to have it every once in awhile. Its some weird instinctual thing I think. LOL
I drink it now with Pizza...OR I have a Corona with lime with my shrimp fajitas...it tastes DARN good with that stuff!!
You notice though..you could never do chocolate chip cookies and a beer. Ewwwwwww.

When I had my first taste of beer when I was 10 years old, I hated it. Even after that, through out high school, I tried drinking some and it didn't work out. It wasn't til I turned 21 that I actually started to like beer. Now I can't fathom a life without beer. It tastes really good to me now.
I think it has to do with the maturity of your tastes. I used to love sweets as a kid, but now I only do them occasionally. Since beer is more bitter than pretty much everything, it's easy to imagine how someone who is underage or who hasn't developed a taste for it wouldn't like it.

It is an acquired taste- I used to find it disgusting, but I moved to Germany and tried some excellent beer, and thought 'hhmmm, maybe this isn't so bad', and really developed an appreciation for the stuff. I still can't stand crappy, cheap beers like Budweiser, but a nice flavorful import or microbrew- yummy! Give it time your tastes might change. You could also try a fruit beer like Lambeck to start getting acquainted with the taste, parts of which will be overshadowed by fruit flavors. Also, fruit beers aren't like nasty fruit wines that come in neon colors- they are good stuff.

I'm not sure about guiness actually. It's not just the watered-down commercial american beers that I can't stand, I just can't drink beer (and i've TRIED to like it)! I've tried guinness (but it wasn't from tap), and a whole slew of microbrews that were recommended to me... the only time I can have beer is if it's cooked as part of my food, like in fondue.
I totally get your frustration... as a college student I just feel like such a loser because I can't drink beer ( I will take hard liquor anytime though).
Like the person above me said, it's probably just an acquired taste (that we haven't acquired... yet)

Drop the can of bud and try a nice microbrew..... Keep in mind there are MANY different types and styles..keep trying different types, by the time you make through all the varieties either you will have found one you really enjoy or you will have developed your taste for brew lol

"Gross" is your opinion...usually beer is an aquired taste. Once you aquire the taste, there is nothing like an ice cold beer!

Gross? Nah... :)
I know what you mean, it is definitely an aquired taste. I like it more for the carbonation than anything.

It's not gross. It's great.
But also, an acquired taste.
