Exodus 6:20
And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses.

Deuteronomy 27:22
Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother.

Sounds like the Bible want you to be incestuous and then the authors got confused.
I am amazed at why people still believe this stuff and then claim to be scholars in it... pasting long answers to every question.
WHY would you believe in this fantasy when you would not believe ina science book telling you that there is no gravity?!

what's your problem. Amram married father's SISTER...not his sister or half-sister.

there is no contradiction here.

I don't know where you get believing there is no gravity. I know of no one that feels that way. If you're making a comparison, the Bible to such a theory--you fell short. Exodus and Deuteronomy were written at about the same time and by the same author but there are MANY, many, generations between the two. At the time of Exodus the blood lines were virtually pure. Pure blood lines offer few problems. Maybe that's why people lives so very long at that time. It's possible that a person could be mentioned in both books for more than one reason. Anyway, the blood lines were pure, and very good. That being the case, to mate with a relative caused no problem. and there was no rule stating not to do so. Moses was one of the offspring and as you may, or may not, know Moses was a great and Godly man. There is nothing recorded that Moses was limited intellectually, deformed, etc. To do what Moses did, I don't see how he could have had such problems as these. What is written in Deuteronomy concerning Moses birth and a few other things here and there, appear to be a recanting of what actually took place in Exodus. I don't think Moses was born twice, do you? When the ACTUAL (non recanting) events of Deuteronomy took place the blood lines were no longer as pure AND that is when the ruling that one could marry such as you describe took place. It doesn't appear that there is a contradiction here.

Or a law book telling you that there is Ex Post Facto laws...

Oh, wait, you are suggesting that Amram & Jochebed DID violate a law that would not exist for almost 100 years.

Violations of the Mosaic Law that occured before the Exodus (Exodus 20) can't be judged under the Law.

first I will say Abraham married his half sister but the laws about marriage did not come to Israel until moses was over 80 so at the time his father married his mum they had no laws against marrying family members.
you need to read the bible in order and work out when they were told what. Isaac and Ismail were the off spring of brother and sister but at that time God had not told them that was bad.

LoL just because somebody in the bible does something that doesn't make it right... and it doesn't mean that the bible condones it..

God uses flawwed, imperfect people in the bible just like he does today. That's one of the things that is so unique about the bible - it doesn't whitewash it's "heros" but shows their ugly underbelly. When you read about the weaklings, cowards, and swindlers that are the children of God you come away knowing that the only explanation for their success is God himself.

You won't find that in the Qur'an or anywhere else!

Relax dear, we all know that you are talking about a collection of bronze age middle eastern goat herders fairy tales... Some people suffering from schizoid delusional mental disorder have difficulties making the difference between reality and fairy tales. With proper education and sometime psychiatric help they will quietly fade away.

In Biblical times, Women had an obligation to bear a son to he house. Lot's daughters also Had incestuos sex with Him. He did not know it. There was no lust. They knew it was their obligation to bear at leat one son. There were no other men. Read it.

"Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth. Let's get our father to drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father." That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I lay with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and lie with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went and lay with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab; he is the father of the Moabites of today. The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites of today." (Genesis 19:30-38)

You know that the Bible is a manual for life and a guide to things we should avoid as well as doing. Maybe this slipped your mind.
Oh, and have you ever studied kinship groups and concepts such as adoption? The Israelites certainly, in their patriarchial society did a lot of such things.
