Why bible is having new and so many versions ? When other religions don’t have. Do you think that Christians are confused and want to make that the bible was correct as science say .( Poor scientists like Galileo Magellan will get happy after reading the new bible available in India )
So many of my friends have told me that they are confused and relay confused after reading yahoo answers on Christianity

Different Christians believe differently on peripheral issues. But the reason that there are so many different translations is that there are so many different dialects of English: British, American, Australian, South African, etc... The New International Version generalizes it well enough for each English speaker to get a reasonable interpretation, but the Bibles catered to a specific dialect come closer to people who speak that particular dialect.
If you really want the most fundamental understanding, you gotta learn Greek and Hebrew.
And this is not the place to learn the basic tenets of any faith... you have no idea who on here may be a troll trying to lead you in the wrong direction. And even people who have the same basic faith will disagree on details, so you may see two Christians here who believe completely opposite each other. Learn the fundamentals from someone in person, then come on here and play.

Confusion is the weapon of the enemy.
There are so many versions because Aramaic is a difficult language to translate and language loses 10% of its words every 1000 years plus some words have totally changed meaning, for instance, the word "gay" does not mean "happy" anymore.
Around 400 AD, St Jerome was ticked off at all the inaccurate versions of the old and new testaments, and so he set to work translating them all. He was knowledgable in several languages and lived in a monastery near Jerusalem while he did so, so that he could talk to the Jews about the Torah and their ideas on how it should be properly translated.
The result was (into Latin) the Vulgate. Called so, because it was in the language of the people.
Latin was declared a dead language like, about 50 years ago.

You write like a Muslim. Are you a Muslim?
I have a Koran that has English writings in it. Does that mean that all people who have a Koran have English translations in them too?
If not, then don't I have another version of the Koran?
You see, the typical logic that a Muslim uses to say that there are many versions of the Bible is the same that I just used. If it's in another language, then it is another version, an English version.
So Muslims do not make sense. They are illogical to say that there is only one Koran. When I have another version. Is there a Koran in French, German, Spanish? If so, why are there so many versions of the Koran? Why do Muslims lie about there being only one version?

First of all friend this is not the place to learn about Christianity. You should do that at Church, ask your pastor to help you understand.
Secondly while there are many different translations of the Bible, these translations do not change the message, they simply say it in a different way. For example instead of saying 'thou shalt not kill' a different translation might say 'you shall not kill'. They both say the same thing, just in different ways.

Yahoo Answers is not the place to learn about Christianity... there are so many people on here who are not Christian but claim to be who impersonate or just simply are ignorant of the true meaning of Christianity.
The place to learn about Christianity is at a Church with a community of people who worship Jesus and obey him together. They can teach you about the bible and about what Jesus taught.

It's not that. They've been conditioned to consider it a non-fiction book, when it's all allegories and fables. If you read a non-fiction book, you're going to believe what's in it. Or if you're so inclined, you'll do further research to verify. They cannot suspend disbelief when it comes to reading the bible.

Vain people try to put words into God's mouth that He never said by writing newer translations. Christians have to be cautious about this. I read several translations and then combine them for a fuller picture.
