I recently bought a few thousand rounds of various ammunition (5.56, .223, 7.62S, .30-06) from a yardsale and in the bottom of one of the cases was a box of 5.56 blanks that I didn't see until I got home. Can these safely be fired from an AR-15 without any modification?

Yes, but you will have to pull back the loading handle for each shot, since the bolt won't cycle on its own without a blank adapter.

There shouldn't be any problem but blanks don't develop enough pressure to cycle the bolt. You can buy an adapter that blocks the barrel or simply cycle the rifle manually.

Get a blank adapter you can get one for 5 to 10 $ this will allow you to shoot semi auto with out it you can only shoot one at a time. When we used to play our war games in the ARMY we used blanks with our miles gear.
