Ok Friday morning I got up and my dogs front left foot was swollen. I checked it for thorns, stickers etc.. Nothing. I looked online to see what I could give him for pain. I finaly got a aspirin down him later that afternoon. He laid around all day. I gave him 1more aspirin late that night. This morning I get up and hes limping but walking and tring to play, better than the day before. Tonight the swellin has gone down, but I guess he had an abcess and it burst. What can I put on it untill I can get him to the vet? I read something about witch hazel on a cotton ball? Dont tell me I should take him to the vet asap. My car is broke down we live 25 miles from the closet vet and my check didnt come in on friday. And monday is a holiday. I thought he may have just sprained it untill it started bleeding late tonight

Thanks, he is doing so much better. He is running and playing now. He was even up for a short walk. I even had to stop him from chasing a rabbit. The swelling has completely gone down and no more oozing blood! Hes back to his normal self.

any chance some one can get you to wally world and get the antibiotic called sulphdine [sp] yellow stuff in bottle, this is a good thing for cuts grazes etc etc and MADE for dogs.

Failing that make a salt pack for him as this will draw out as much poison as it can.

any other sort of poultice I would imagine they would try and get off.

hope the dog is better soon..........

EDIT : sorry did not see you ask before this...............get a cup or so of table salt, boil some water and add the boiling water into the salt till it is moist if you put in too much then you can drain it off or use a paper towel to soak up the extra, let it cool for a min or two till you can put YOUR finger in it and it is warm NOT hot.............put a dollop of the salt mix on to a papertowel, rag, that sort of thing and hold firmly on the dogs paw / area that is hurt for as long as the dog will let you, remove this and then "try" to put another dollop on and wrap it firmly and then leave over night if you can..................remember salt water is very very good for natural healing on humans andwill have the same effect on the dog, it is just harder to keep it on them lol lol

Regardless of the results it most certainly will not harm the pup and will draw out any gunk left in there.......have you had a good look for what sort of spider might have bit her?

Good luck hun and hope this helps, and for future reference I would have some of that doggie graze stuff in the house, like I said it is easily available at Walmart and is about $4.00

Have you ever heard of a brown recluse spider? This sounds like a recluse bite. You do need to see a vet because your dog can loose a leg to it.
Research it on the web and look at the graphics of what they do to tissue.

Put some gooz on it. Wrap it in some type of cast thing. If it's bleeding alot then put some cotton balls on it and then put the gooz or some type of wrapping stuff on it and I would tape it in on so it won't fall off.

Hope your dog gets better and nothing bad happens to it.
Good luck to you and your pet!! =).

Just wash it out with mild soap and warm water, rinse, dry and apply Neosporin.Keep doing this twice a day until you can get him to a vet.

Bum a ride , borrow some $$$ & go to the vet!! Nothing else you read on here will help your dog. I'd sure hate to hear it had to be amputated!!!
