It's very rare, and is almost always associated with some disease process or reaction to medication/drugs.

So acquired colour vision defects almost always come with some other symptoms and problems, which may be detected before the colour vision problem itself: poor vison, night- blindness, headaches, abnormal pupils... are all possibilities.

The vast majority of colour vision defects are inherited, present from birth, are equal in both eyes, and are not associated with other problems.
For the vast majority of people a colour vision test once in their life is sufficient. It's not something that needs to be repeated at every eye exam.
Colour vision being different in regions of one eye or between the two eyes is a strong pointer to acquired colour vision difficulties.

People do not slowly go color blind. It is a hereditary issue and you either are or are not. Most of the color blind people in the world are men. There is only one kind of color blindness that affects women and it is extremely extremely rare.

If I remember correctly....according to Chinese Traditional Medicine the kidneys control the eyes. Have you been having: lower back pain, urine flow has changed, sex urges have change, or your emotions are on a fear level? If yes to any of these symptoms then see an acupuncturist....! You will either love it or hate it....most love it.
