I own xd40 and have limited experience with colt1911 45caliber. I like the feel of the colt 1911 seems to feel good. I have fairly small hands and many of the glocks I tried just didn't fit so good. Thank you.

If you have the money Kimber can't be beat. I am not a big guy. 5'6. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II. It's the .45 caliber that you already like. It is very compact, concealable, can come from the factory with crimson trace laser sights. I have looked at and shot a lot of guns -- and you still need to see what fits you -- but this gun meets the criteria that you listed in your question and is the one I carry as my favorite even though I have others.

Kimber Ultra Carry II is a shortened frame 1911 pistol that weighs just 25 ounces. Their short 3-inch barrels, compact grips and flat 1911 profiles make them easy to carry and conceal. At the same time, their 7-round magazines pack more power than just about any caliber of revolver.

Kimber makes a great gun, there really isn't much debate about that. It is a little expensive -- but worth every penny if you ever NEED the weapon.

Since Glocks are uncomfortable, but you own an XD, it seems your issue is with the length from the grip to the trigger versus the grip circumference (if grip circumference is an issue, stick w/ handguns that use single stacked mags). If that's the case, you will want to stick with 1911 style grips and what better way than to get a 1911. If you find that you are having problems concealing a 1911, then you might want to take a look at the Kahr K or MK series (I prefer the K series as I feel the MK is too small). Whichever model you choose, have fun shooting it!

If you like the 1911 type gun, I suggest the para ordnance pistols. specifically the Para Companion, or Para Carry. Both are smallish and fit smaller hands well. I have both and my wife shoots them without problem. The magazines are single stacks, so the girth is more suitable for small hands. One thing of note here. They are Double Action Only pistols. That may take some getting used to. I happen to really like that myself. But some people do not.

You might also consider the Colt Mustangs, or some of the other compact 1911 variants.

Best regards. shoot safely and responsibly.

Give yourself 'Best Answer' for the Colt 1911 since you state that its feels good in your hands. Or try the new Glock Model 21-SF (short-frame). That is a full size Model 21 .45 acp in a newly configured frame that fits smaller hands better.

Good luck.

If you like the .45 1911, Kimber makes some very small, compact models. You might like those. Springfield Armory makes some small 1911's too that you might like. There are some small, reliable revolvers made by Taurus that are OK, Taurus triggers are kind of hard to pull in my experience but they may be better these days.

I pesonally like the full size Glock model 22 in .40S&W caliber. If you feel comfortable with the 1911, then that is what you should buy and carry.

If you like the 1911, try the new Springfield EMP in 9mm or .40 cal. It is made with a frame designed for the shorter cartridges, and will fit smaller hands better

You said you had some experience with 1911s? You should check out Para-Ordnance's Warthawg line up, .45s and 9mms, really compact guns, great capacity and very well built. Or as mentioned before check out Kahr. Good luck...

The best one is the one you shoot well and feel comfortable with--within limits. (A .32 ACP is probably not powerful enough.) You can figure out how to conceal a full sized 1911 if that's what you use.

I believe that answer depends on where you get your concealed carry license from and how strict they are. Over here you just have to be able to shoot the target 8 times (anywhere, not right on the bullseye) and some other steps and you get the license.
