Whoever or whatever gave you the idea that computer does not damage eyesight, THEY'RE WRONG! i was born with 20/20 vision and the computer has ruined my perfect vision! growing up, people tease me about wearing glasses so i only wear them in class. now, to prevent any more eye damage, i avoid using the computer unless i have to. so how can i adjust my computer screen lightings to decrease eye damage to the minimum?

I know that when I sit at the computer for several hours, my eyes begin to hurt. There should be something around the monitor of the computer to adjust the brightness and contrast. Play with it a little, or get someone to help you. Hope I helped.

Computer use will not cause you to need glasses, the need for glasses is mostly determined by genetics. There is a small additional effect from doing near work on needing glasses, it is a very small effect, making the strength of your glasses maybe 10% greater or less.

So if you want to remove the small computer effect, you will need to stop using the computer and stop reading; adjusting the contrast and brightness does not stop the near work and will not remove the computer effect.

I heard that you should change the contrast/brightness on a regular basis so that your eyes never get used to seeing one setting... changing it once every two weeks or so change what your eyes are seeing... might help out.
