I've done a bunch of piercings myself, I'm thinking about doing lip so you better let me know how it goes, lol. So basically I don't have the actual lip experience to tell you, but what I've done for my other ones is held an ice cube against the spot until it got so cold it hurt, you can do it on the inside & outside at the same time if you wanna be super-numb. Then I take a lighter and put the safety pin or whatever under it but just until its hot, not til it gets brownish. And make sure its clean, too. Then if you have a clamp, clamp yourself obviously. And mark the spot, put the needle against your skin, and make sure its in the exact right direction you want the piercing to be.. don't want to end up with a crooked lip ring, right? Then just shove it in as quickly as possible. If you stop in the middle, don't take it out. Just ice the inside a little more, take a few deep breaths, and start pushing again. Once its done you'll be so happy, the pain is worth the result imo. Remember LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES! kthnx :]

If your worried about the pain then why do it??

I have a few piercings and the only thing i worried about was hoping they would stay in and not get infected at all.

Don't do it if YOU don't want to, otherwise i can say suck on ice until your ready to get pierced, and it only hurts for a split second.

OK telling you to get it done professionally IS the right answer, and the right thing to do....

Too many people do things themselves and just f*ck it up... You may end up to regret it.

Don't be a child, do it professionally.

Piercings are incomparable and there is no way which you will appreciate what to anticipate. whilst i might say one piercing became extremely painful to me, yet another man or woman could have experienced in yet differently and say a piercing that i did no longer think of became that painful. each piercing journey is going to be diverse. For me, my comfortable became my maximum painful piercing i've got had. My septum became painless. My lip felt only like my lobes and infrequently injury in any respect.

Don't eat spaghetti sauce or anything else acidic like orange juice, etc until it heals.

But, don't do it!!! It will smell cuz you really can't get it clean, like your belly button.

.... and it scar will scar your lips for life.

(not to mention it looks gross, sorry)

Just pierce your belly button. No harm in that and there are great jewels out there to put in.

The best thing to keep it from hurting so much is to not do it at all. 10 years from now you're going to regret it big time.
