(You must be a Harry Potter fan!!! :)

I think that self-centerdness is the most important problem in this world. We think in terms of What's In It For me. What would happen if everyone put other people first for an entire day and we decided to work together for 24 hours to resolve just one issue? Could we actually make our world a better place to live?

If you're talking about the survival of humans and other creatures, then global warming would be it.

But if you mean human society: then the FOREMOST problem is child abuse. Why? It contributes to all forms of violence, mental illness, drug & alcohol abuse, and the destruction of the very thing that made humans viable: the family.

If we don't address and SOLVE that issue, we're doomed, plain and simple. Nobody wants to HEAR that, but they'll find out the hard way, eventually! They always do, either by having their own children turn against them in one way or another or eventually, by having to live in a society corrupted by senseless, species-destructive violence!

By the way: the THIRD most important problem in the world is the economy and its dependence on natural resources, or the LACK of thereof.

BTW: Belief in a supreme being, or LACK of it, has nothing to do with this problem in the end: it's about compassion for those who will inherit this planet!

People believing in Violent Religions that justify Killing in the name of God. If we had no Religions that has violence in the texts there would be a lot less hatred and in the world. If everyone was peaceful like Buddhists we would have no wars.

A complex question, no simple answer. The way I see it problems come up for 1 of 2 reasons.

1. Ignorance - people don't know that what they do is harmful, immoral, damaging. Example, smokers 20 years ago.

2. Incompetence - people know what what they do is harmful, immoral or damaging, but lack the skill, resources, education ... to do anything else. Example, hunger in Africa.

3. Indifference - in my view the worst. People have the skill, resources and education to do things differently, they fully know that the choices they are making are harmful, immoral and damaging, but simply do not care and do them any way.

Governments feeding of the people, instead being for the people!
To make the world a better place, Governments would have to make unpopular choices for some groups. So, to get everybody reelected, they do instead very little, but shovel tax money into big gaping bottomless pits, from where the rich pick up their paychecks.

self....

people are so caught up in themselves that they dont take the time to look around and see.

If you truly seek God you will find Him. How can you truly know yourself without knowing the one who created you and the purspose behind his 1 in a million design. Then you will find meaning in your life, by using the talents that He gave you to help others, making a lasting impression on the earth.

That is what the Bible calls :laying up treasures in Heaven where rust and mold and moths cannot destroy. (Matthew 6:20 Holy Bible)

When I am dead and gone, i want my life to have counted for something. I like to be trendy, but if I spend all of my life trying to keep up with the Jones, wearing the right clothes and driving the right car, then what have I done for others?

The people.....BUT!!! it's not just the PEOPLE themselves, it's the way they've been raised, and taught.....the anger & hate, the racism, and predjudice, all of it, the world has some serious issues, I'm surprised it doesn't drink......lol, but mostly it's the learned behavior of the human race, to be completely honest.....or at least, in my oppinion.

Lack of Faith/Belief-Putting God into one daily life. Most people today say they believe in a Creator,a Spiritual Being but its a detached belief-they say he' exists but have no relationship with him . When man thinks that he is it, that he can run his life, the world etc then the mess that is today is the result of being independent from God.
