In Genesis, God created man of the 6th day that the earth was in existance. If that's the case, the 5th day must of been a few hundred thousand years long. It plainly states in Genesis that before God create the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss. No creature could have lived then...

I realize that whoever wrote the bible wasn't alive during the time of the dinosaurs, but they weren't alive at the time God created earth. So how did they know how the earth was created, but not about dinosaurs?

The Bible was written by guys who had no scientific education in a time when superstition and myth were the prevailing precepts. They all thought the world was flat, for Fred's sake. They had no knowledge of dinosaurs or other prehistoric life forms, and they thought disease was brought on by heavenly wrath, rather than bacteria and viruses. I hope people nowadays don't take it literally...do they??!!

Someone will tell probably tell you that it does--that it's the reference to 'leviathan.' As it happened, there weren't any fossil remains of dinosaurs in the Palestine region, and they weren't big on paleontology at the time. In China, on the other hand, there are dinosaur skeletons literally hanging out of the sides of cliffs. That's where the Chinese legends of dragons came from, later to be transmitted via the Silk Road to medieval Europe.

The bible is not a historycal account, or at least the 1st testament isnt. It is a folklore book. May have some truth in it, but the whole genesis thing is surely false.

The bible isn't about dinosaurs, it is about God's people, if it was relevant to "religion" it would be in there. but it is not relevant so no need to mention them, it does not mean that they did not exist. Kind of like why a Math book doesn't talk about butterflies, there is no need because butterflies are not relevant in mathematics.

The bible came after the dinosaurs.

Moses began the bible 2513 years after Adam was in Eden in day six, he died 2553 years after Adam and this time period was 857 to 897 years after the flood that was 1656 years after Adam. Abraham got the promised Land covenant 427 years after the flood, and the 603,550 Promised Land Heirs were under Judges from 898 years after the flood until Samuel died 1327 years after the flood, six years before king Saul died and David became king.

eh there is one passage that some interpret to be about a dinosaur, but interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.

But to answer your question, for the same reason why they don't mention internet and cars. It didn't exist in that time. Why would they write about it?

they had not yet discovered the dinosaur bones and remains. so, they could not fathom it in those days - the creation story is highly simplified for the population in that time. People are still slow to accept the evidence even in today's world and today's times.
