g point. McDonald's can freeze their product for a month or so. Fresh vegetables have to be delivered regularly.
Here's a related question: If smoking is so damned bad for you why can one buy them out of a machine almost anywhere, but nicotine patches cost $40.00+ and are only available at the drug store?

I totally know what you mean and have asked myself that ALL THE TIME!!
The fact is that to make healthier food takes more time, and more money than it does to throw together some oreos or fry up a whopper.
I don't think that people would mind spending the extra 10 or 20 cents though if the health food tasted just like the junk food. Its just a fact that fattening food tastes much better then food that is good for you. I mean, look at what this wonderful health food is up against...
rice cake or a bag of dorritos?
3-layer chocolate cake or fig newton?
Smores pop-tart or oatmeal?
Hershey Bar or Fruit Leather?
I don't get this at all, but that is just they way people are. They are willing to save a few dollars at the store... even if it means sacrificing their health. Poor Poor Fat Naive Country.

Simple law of marketing, if it's hot (healthy food), charge more. Use to be "healthy food," when I grew up was cheaper, no one wanted it. I guess your point if the US was concerned about obesity that healthy food would be more affordable to combat the situation. That is a good point, a morale point, but life as you know isn't like that. In my day there weren't any great tasting junk foods in the supermarket, apparently that was a good thing at the time. It's harder now for people tempted by so many microwaveable miracle great tasting foods. Anyhow, have a nice night. Chow

Junk food is more convenient but not necessarily cheaper. You can make a pretty good meal from the beans and rice you could buy for the cost of a cheese burger and fries.
We Americans are obese because we still eat a farmers diet and don't get a farmers exercise.

Healthy foods are not expensive. You have to be wise when you shop and perhaps buy something that you may not like but learn to eat it 'cuz its good for ya. Watch for sales, use coupons. Learn to fish and plant a garden. Obesity is much more expensive than healthy food. Considering the illnesses associated with it and possible surgeries that many obese people face. healthy food is looking a lot less expensive.

People forget subsidies, such as corn. Many of our cheap junk foods are made with it and it's awful for you.
Portion sizes are an issue as well. Poverty is another direct link to obesity.
Anyone who generlizes about those who are fat are just ignorant. Once you get to obese it's VERY HARD to lose and keep it off and every diet you do makes it even harder. Diets set you up to fail!
If it was easy we'd all be thin, but it's not, it's biological.

Its all about the people who are selling the stuff. And Healthy food isn't always more expensive than junkfood. An apple is a he!! of alot cheaper than a bag of doritos. That's why its best to eat at home instead eating fast food. You get more food, its cheaper, and its better for you, saves you money to. Where do you shop for your healthy food? You should try Safeway or something.

well alot of americans do go to fast food restaurants and buy a whole bunch of junk food, its not just you guys, its us Canadians as well. I guess now-a-dayss, people dont really care about their health. And healthy food is a bit more expensive because it has BETTER NUTRITION and it is wayyy healthier than junk food.
