We made cookies last night from scratch and put the rest of the dough that was left in the bowl in the fridge. My son wants me to cook some more, but the dough is hard and has been in the fridge all day. Can I reuse it and how do I get it back to normal again?

I like Bigeyes' suggestions. You didn't say what kind of cookie dough it is. Was the dough covered or did the moisture evaporate in the fridge? If it wasn't covered and the dough still seems way off after getting it back to room temp, you could try adding in some more of the recipe's moisture or just a little water...probably about 1 teaspoon!

Whatever you decide to make out of the dough, it will not hurt you since it was in the fridge.

Just knead it a little and roll into a log. You can then slice for cookies. You can also knead it and spread it out on a pizza pan and bake it. You can then sprinkle with shavings of white chocolate ( cheese ), Maybe some sliced strawberries for the peperoni...Let your son use his imagination...After all that's what matters when it comes to cooking with your children...Have fun!
